first of all the atmosphere and setting for this thai restaurant has a very traditional feeling and good vibes so we started very positive and optimistic, after trying a few thai restaurants in town we felt like maybe we saved the best for last.. unfortunately it was rather down hill from the start, we ordered a bottle of red wine and the bottle was served already open(poor your own glass) a fresh bottle especially when 5x the price should be opened in front of the customers and maybe poor the first glass for them would also make service much better, the mixed starter we ordered came with a bunch of random items like a piece of broccoli or fish and chicken mixed together and fried it definitely contained a few traditional appetisers like spring rolls and chicken skewers but was just a all deep fried things luckily it came with 3x delicious sauces 1 peanut 1 cucumber and 1 sweet chilli they really was good and saved the starter. For the main after discussing with my partner we decided to play it safe and go with the pad kra pao and red curry I've had many many pad kra pao and it's so simply delicious you really can't go wrong it's minced meat with thai basil and chilli unfortunately I received what looked and tasted like a vegetable stir fry with chicken pieces it continued very little basil and chilli and alot of other vegetables like mushroom that I can't stand and it's traditionally never served with the dish I ordered so it was very disappointing however after discussion with the woman she was happy to change my meal for a massaman curry and she handled the service well, unfortunately my partners red curry was also far from traditional it continues alot of fruits pineapple(which has been used in Thailand before) grapes and lychee which ive never seen in a curry before, the red curry was supposed to be the hottest above the green and yellow however it has no kick what do ever very disappointing food from start to finish, without the service being good we would happily rate 2 or maybe even 1 star but service good makes for the ok rating of 3 star. maybe we visit again 1 day but there is definitely better more traditional...
Read moreWe booked this Thai restaurant in Freiburg because we want to try the food. The location is very nice especially in summer since the tables are under the trees. The restaurant is nice and the atmosphere is really relaxed. The service is very friendly. The food was good, not extraordinary but good. The antipasti were tasty and fresh, we had a mixed plate. I was a bit disappointed by the main dishes, we took a salad and a chicken with rice. I would have expected more depth of flavour. The only issue was that the menu does not indicate the level of spiciness that you get. So despite the fact that we are used to eating spicy, the dish that arrived was so spicy that it was unateable. We clearly left it and enjoyed the rest. This is the only point I...
Read moreTuesday night and most of the tables were reserved but we managed to get a table if we promised to be quick, which was nice of them to accommodate. It was a special occasion so I appreciated that. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with great cosy feeling and amazing outdoor terrace. I loved the food as well - delicious starters and curry. The red curry and massaman were loaded with vegetables which is great and the flavours were spicy and good. They could have been a bit stronger and there could have been more of a difference between the massaman and red curry so that’s why I giving it four stars. I would go here if you’re looking for a Thai restaurant in Freiburg with nice atmosphere for...
