Remember, this is just one person's experience. My husband, two adult sons and I did a 3 week road trip around Germany. We do not speak German - just putting it out there. Thankful when someone did speak English, but we certainly did not have expectations. Having said that, I arranged all of our lodging ahead of time.||||Prior to staying here, we had beautiful stays on the Rhine and then the Moselle Rivers for the prior 5 days. We are 4 active adults. Each day, we set out for destinations known and unknown and had a blast exploring this amazing country. ||||After a full day of driving and sightseeing, we arrived late afternoon at Hotel Kreuzblume - with a reservation. Back track a little - as I was making all of these hotel reservations in February, 2018, this hotel struck me a little odd because they kept requesting our arrival time. Most places did and I tried to give my best estimate, but Kreuzblume emailed the request a few times - the most current time was the day? before arrival. I gave them a 20 minute window time period and then was anxious for the day to ensure we arrived at that time since the arrival time seemed to be so important to them. They did say in their email that they were not there all the time. OK.||||So - driving, sight seeing all day, end of the day, negotiating those endearing, frustrating, little cobblestone medieval streets. We park. We walk to the hotel. It is in the time period.... no one is there. We ring the bell. No answer. We check the restaurant next door. It is closed for the day. We check our phone - no wifi. Ring the doorbell again - no answer. The phone plan we have makes it extremely difficult to make a phone call - again no wifi. My husband went to the shop across the street and asked if he could use her phone and explained the situation. The shop keeper made the call. Kreuzblume answered and explained that that day, in an email, he gave us instructions for using a key box and the code. The room keys were inside.||||We had no idea, until we once again had internet access that this was going to happen. No host to greet us.||||The next morning, there was a breakfast buffet - sadly lacking compared to the prior breakfasts we had experienced to date. And, someone else here, remarked about the bad coffee. Yes! so disappointing considering Germany usually serves great coffee! It tasted like the machine had not been cleaned in a long time.||||And, worst thing, the one guy that was making the coffees, evidently was one of the owners? Never said a word to us - oh I'm so sorry - oh are you the family that came in last night? Sorry about the mix up. Not a word. As a matter of fact, I don't think we exchanged a word ever with him or his partner. Their price was higher compared to similar properties we stayed at.||||Room wise - yes - corridors dark, rooms small. Certainly adequate. No air conditioning - uncomfortable on a hot day. Parking was a ways away. Shower super small and sprayed all over.||||The city is cute - lots to see and do. ||||We stayed in about 12 hotels during our 21 days in Germany and compared to all the other wonderful experiences we had with our different hosts and delicious incomparable breakfast spreads, we found Hotel...

I booked this hotel for a business trip, and it was a huge mistake. The room was completely misrepresented—what was advertised as a "queen bed" was actually two small, uncomfortable beds pushed together. The shower was tiny, difficult to adjust, and had either scorching hot or freezing cold water. Sound isolation was non-existent, making it impossible to sleep.
I kindly asked the hotel owner if I could check out early cause I couldn't fall asleep till 5 am. The owner agreed and even sold the room after I left. When I asked about the status of my refund, he claimed the process had already started and that I would receive my money by the end of the month. Now, a month and a half later, I still haven’t received anything. I contacted them for many times, but they kept changing their stories. The owner has now stopped responding to my messages and refuses any refund. They are taking advantage of international travelers because we couldn't go back.
This whole experience has caused me so much unnecessary stress. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and wasted money—do yourself a favor and...
Read moreI stayed at the hotel for two nights. I did not experience the restaraunt. The general ambiance of the entry and halls is shabby. The walls are poorly painted and scuffed; there is no modern art on the walls. The room had two "closets"; both were poles with no doors, drawers or shelves. The bed was completely worn in the middle as though a large animal had nested in it. There were no pictures on the walls. The nightstands were stained, flimsy wood boxes. The windows were not clean. Breakfast took forever as the waitperson was overwhelmed. The cheese, cold cuts were standard fare. The fruit salad looked like it was a few days old. This was the most expensive of the 14 hotels I stayed in in May/June of this year. I might have rated this higher if the price was half of what I paid. It was a convenient location; it can be loud at night if meals are...
