I lived in Freiburg for 5 years and I heard only good things about this place so I decided to try it.
First and foremost, service is VERY SLOW. we had to wait 20 mins to order and another 25 to get our food. No, the place wasn't full or crowded. I ordered a pizza with extra burrata on top. They forgot it. The pizza was okay. To be honest I dont see the reason why people like it so much. There is nothing special about it. After we ate, we asked for the bill. We waited another 15 minutes and they told us that we must pay inside. Inside of this place is a little grocery store, so we went to the cash register to pay. We waited another 10 minutes there, standing. the important point is at this point the place was pretty much empty. Then a man who was chatting with his buddies while we were waiting stood up and walked slowly us, saying "oh work is over soon, sorry for making you wait, I just like to have a laugh with my friends"...................... WOW. Absolutely WOW. I really dont understand how come this place is not...
Read moreVery big disappointment... Inadequate prices for the food's quality and bad service. It used to be one of the best Italian restaurants in town (the first time visited it in 2013), unfortunately there was a constant decline... Visited it last time in 2019 and did not bring food and service satisfaction either. Yesterday (three of us) ordered food for which we waited more than an hour, after such a long waiting time only two of us got our dishes since they forgot about the third person. So two of us finished our food and only afterwards was brought the third dish. Tagliateli with mushroom and ragout from dorade - mushrooms were frozen and not fresh, sauce was so cheaply made, like from Maggie Bullion... Ravioli with Ricotta and Spinach - Ravioli were dry since there were made and left on the air... Right now not advisable to go there, maybe in couple of years again. There is a huge room for...
Read moreThis place was recommended by a local and it shows. It's a hidden gem that's off the beaten path that is the Freiburg Altstadt. We came for an early dinner and I was hungry so I got the gnocchi as well as a margherita pizza and my date ordered the Bolognese. I'm frequently let down by gnocchi at restaurants but I actually enjoyed it here. I wish the pizza had a little more going on, but that's on me for getting the margherita when they have several other more "loaded" options on the menu. My date also really liked her Bolognese. We even decided to get a Tiramisu for dessert which was solid. The vibe could use a little work -- you feel like you're in a well-lit grocery store, which you kind of are, but the experience suffers a tiny bit from it. On the other hand, it was nice to visit the shelves after our meal to see the various Italian products they have for sale. Definitely glad...
