Bey's Café - Bistro — Restaurant in Hamburg

We've been at this place tonight---a Saturday. It was almost empty with only a handful of people, thus we git a table easily without reserving it beforehand. The place was very nice, and prices are also decent for a large city and a quite central location.

I've had a Rumpsteak with potatoes and salad. The beef was of perfect colour---cooked medium, the plate was quite huge with a good amount of salad and potatoes. The potatoes tasted very good, although a bit salty---almost like french fries. The salad was fresh and nice. Only the steak was standing behind. The piece was of good size, and had perfect colour. Unfortunately it was a bit chewy. The meat was not fresh from a butcher's but seemed to be defrosted.

Nevertheless, Bey's was a nice location and a good dinner.

Staff was friendly and very quiet, which we liked.

Unfortunately, they only accept cash...

Ich habe draußen gesessen, auf den unbequemsten Stühlen ever. Danach musste ich mich hinlegen, so Rückenschmerzen hatte ich.

Die Tomatensuppe war OK, das Schnitzel Wiener Art ist keines (nicht im Ölbad gebraten, keine „Blasen“), sondern ein TK-Rohling, wahrscheinlich frittiert. Nichts, wofür ich wiederkommen würde.

Sauer war ich, als es hieß „nur Barzahlung“. 2025. Im Touristen-Hotspot Hamburg, wo ich nichtmal meine Brötchen bar bezahle, weshalb ich stets weder Bargeld noch physische Karten bei mir trage. Geldautomaten sind schwierig, es gibt noch nicht viele mit NFC.

Zum Glück hat der Betreiber mir mit seinem privaten PayPal Account ausgeholfen. Hoffentlich vergisst er nicht, das ordentlich umzubuchen, damit es durch die...
