Very good Mexican restaurant here in Hamburg. I went there last Friday with some of my colleagues. It is located across the street of the GroĂneumarkt. We took a table on the sidewalk to enjoy the sunny weather. it's no problem to sit at a table near the street, because it's a very quiet street with little to no traffic.
The Service is very friendly, mindful and courteous. Always looking out if anything is needed or if he/she has to take another order.
The drinks and food were really delicious. For a starter we had some Tortilla chips with Guacamole. It was okay, but the portion was a bit scant. No one really wanted to eat, because there were maybe 20 Tortillas at most on the plate. But beside that, it was very good. the guacamole was fresh with lots of tomatoes in it. Two of my colleagues had a sizzler plate and another colleague and I had a vegetarian Chimichanga. The presentation of the sizzler plate is very nice. It comes in a heavy cast iron pan and is placed on a warmer from the same material. Both had the vegetarian sizzler which looked quiet delicious, even without meat in it. The presentation of my fried burritos wasn't that much of a looker, but the taste was outstanding. I only added a few drops of the habanero sauce to add some fire to it. Maybe, a bit more of the bell pepper sauce in an extra bowl would have been nice. But it was enough even without it.
So if you look for a place to grab something to eat with your friends/colleagues do not hesitate and visit Dos Amigos. We will definitely come back for more...
Read moreIt's a very busy restaurant so the couple of times we've tried to get in they've told us not without reservation. They do however deliver via foodora, and so I've based my review on the delivered food. Reading from other reviews I believe one of the main point of the restaurant is the atmosphere, the food I got at least was good, but not anything special. For me mexican food is something that should be full of flavour and with a bit of spicy kick in to it, but this had neither. I can understand if mexican flavours are toned down to German taste but even then it should have more flavour than just mince with beans, in my opinion. The queso was unlike any I've ever seen and I couldn't really pinpoint what the flavour was, I didn't enjoy it but my husband found it ok. The guacamole that I got with tacos was also ok but again lacking in flavour, I could not taste anything besides avocado. On the plus side, the portions were decent sized and my enchilada had lots of cheese on it, so I didn't mind it being otherwise soggy. All in all, I would probably order it for hangover foods, but otherwise I'll prefer...
Read moreIf youâre German youâd probably give this joint 4-5 stars, but if youâre from a different country - used to a different quality of service ie people being friendly, responding to your call for attention etc) then this place can only get a 3. Was there celebrating my birthday with 10 guests. Took 20min to get the Menus, another 20 to order drinks, approx 50 minutes for the food to arrive. In their defence- the sizzler is always made fresh and - well - sizzling, and is absolutely delicious. And they were busy - on a Saturday, so that might take them up to 4 stars, if youâre really lenient. However, our table was tucked away in a corner, and every time we wanted to order something - we needed to stand up and wave our arms, like those people on an desert island, who just saw a boat going past them. Although, Once youâve had a few drinks , it becomes more trivial, but I will still limit my visits to this place to âonce a yearâ . Thatâs the...
