Good One Café - Schanze — Restaurant in Hamburg

Café Good One is literally just that: a good one. One of many, perhaps, but an extraordinary recommendation nonetheless. Situated right next to Feldstaße, one of the most bustling spots in Hamburg, but still tucked away quietly, it's authentic atmosphere and chique crowd make you feel right in the middle of the lively neighborhood. Of course this also means you'll have to condend with the conversations of said crowd a little, but it never felt overwhelming. While service was overall very welcoming and attentive, it could have been just a tad faster. Which is understandable, given the busy sunday morning it was. So this is less a point of discussion and more just a thing to take note of, when you think about visiting. Which you definitely should, not least for the absolutely fantastic (and vegan) breakfast food. With staples like avocado toast and pancakes as well as more elaborate options (mushroom and truffle bread, anyone?), there is something here for anyone. The coffee was good — well made, nicely served, and exactly what I was hoping for. The place itself is cozy and has a nice atmosphere.

However, I found it quite strange to see in the menu that customers who leave a review receive a free lemonade. While it may seem like a fun way to engage with guests, offering a reward in exchange for a review can risk undermining the authenticity of the feedback.

In my opinion, reviews should remain honest and spontaneous, not influenced by the promise of a gift. Genuine quality speaks for itself — and doesn’t need incentives to earn positive feedback.

Delicious, comfortable, accommodating. I came for breakfast here 3 days in a row while attending a conference at the Hamburg Messe. I was able to work on the WLAN, eat beautifully tasting food, and walk to the Messe when I was done. The portion sizes are large for some menu items, which I took advantage of as a snack or meal later in the day by taking the rest to go.
