Holy Taco — Restaurant in Hamburg

A great spot for dinner with friends!

I came here with a couple of friends for tacos before going out. We shared the guacamole to start. Then I had three tacos and a horchata. I went for the pulled beef, langoustines, and fish of the day.

I think the langoustines was my favourite, but I all three were genuinely fantastic. They were really enjoyable, with lovely sauces and flavours. And the tacos had plenty of filling, so it was a solid portion.

The horchata wasn’t really for me, but was good to try. And also went well with some of the spicier tacos. My friends had margaritas (classic and spicy) and said they were both great!

They also had plenty of options for my pescatarian friend, and were able to accommodate my gluten-free friend.

The place has a fun vibe, with great decor and music. Servers were friendly but you could tell they were very busy and possibly a bit understaffed, though this didn’t detract from the night.

Update!- Juan José surprised us today with a delicious tortilla soup, not on the menu but it definitely should be! Special attention to detail like that and the kindness of the staff is why we come here every week..

We recently moved back to Hamburg after almost 3 years in the US. We are so happy this little place is still open! I would say they have the best tacos in HH. More specifically, the taco Al Pastor was among the best I have ever had. This was however, a Juan José taco! His version of this taco is beyond incredible. I would highly recommend Holy Taco and would suggest that you make sure Juan José is working the grill that day. My only observation would be that they need a much much hotter hot sauce, something extra for those who need ghost pepper on...

A really nice modern style taco restaurant, and I was positively surprised that the flavours seemed quite authentic and not too toned down for German taste as happens with many other places. Excellent selection of tacos with number of vegan and vegetarian options that were in my opinion even better than the meat options, in any case altogether good tacos. The service was fast and nice. The price point is a bit steep, especially since you can order single tacos, and you will always want one more, it adds up very quickly ;-). The interior of the restaurant has very modern and trendy style, I'd say, that is actually not so common in Hamburg, so I enjoyed it very much. Will come again and...
