Panoptikum — Attraction in Hamburg

Nice! You can spend about an hour there, it's pretty cool to see. It's also recommended for kids and the price is okay for what you get. The people working there are very nice and encourage you to take a lot of photos. I also felt a little unwell seeing all the Nazi-Idiots, but the display of the Scholls next to them helped scoping with the dark part of Germans history. After all, it is Germanys history and since these figures are kind of historic themselves it is alright in my point of view. I did not encounter any negative responses from other visitors - none of them took photos of the nazi-bastards - and of course not any selfies.

I understand that people might get upset specially when they have a personal feeling to the Nazi-Idiots, but I guess it would be even more wrong to hide this dark...

Naturally many of the waxworks are of famous Germans (some of whom not internationally renowned!). The advertising leaflets clearly show the best ones as some of the models are a good attempt but miss the spot (Princess Diana with a miniature head ❌) whilst others are really good (the Queen, looking suitably unimpressed ✔). The German politicians are very good too, although Angela Merkel was away being rebuilt (make of that what you will!) Good fun overall and not expensive at €6.50, which includes free audio guide. Staff were great as well and clearly love what they do. A thirty...

Das Panoptikum auf der Reeperbahn ist Hamburgs liebevolle, leicht schräge Antwort auf Madame Tussauds. Nicht so groß, nicht ganz so glamourös, aber mit ganz eigenem Charme und einer Menge Geschichte. Für den Eintrittspreis bekommt man wirklich etwas geboten, auch wenn man in etwa 30 bis 45 Minuten durch ist. Die Wachsfiguren reichen von bekannten Persönlichkeiten über historische Figuren bis zu einigen Überraschungen, bei denen man sich fragt, wer das eigentlich sein soll. Aber gerade das macht den Reiz aus. Manche Figuren sehen täuschend echt aus, andere eher wie entfernte Cousins. Und genau deshalb macht es Spaß. Man lacht, man staunt und man macht definitiv ein paar Fotos fürs private Archiv. Das Personal war ausgesprochen freundlich und gut gelaunt. Alles lief entspannt ab, niemand wurde durchgeschoben, und man konnte sich wirklich Zeit nehmen. Wer mutig ist, sollte sich auch den Gruselbereich ansehen. Da wartet ein bisschen Gänsehaut auf einen, aber keine Sorge, man kommt auch wieder heil raus. Da sich die Ausstellung nicht ständig verändert, ist das Panoptikum vielleicht kein Ort für regelmäßige Wiederholungsbesuche. Aber wenn man in Hamburg ist und noch nie drin war, sollte man sich die Gelegenheit nicht entgehen lassen. Besonders an grauen Regentagen ist es eine wunderbare Abwechslung. Zum Schluss lohnt sich noch ein Blick in den kleinen Shop. Ein Foto mit den Figuren oder eine Postkarte ist ein schönes Andenken an einen sehr besonderen Ort. Das Panoptikum ist kein Hightech-Erlebnis. Es ist ein liebevoll gestalteter Ort, an dem man für eine Weile dem Alltag entkommt. Und wer mit einem Lächeln rausgeht, hat alles...
