Great Place to have a traditional meal in Hamburg. I went there with my mom and dad while visiting me here in Hamburg. For quite some time, I wanted to try Labskaus (one of the most famous meals here in Hamburg) together with my Dad. It took us quite a bit of searching to find a Restaurant which serves it, but isn't a tourist trap, like some of the places in St. George or around the Michel. It's a nice place in a nice neighbourhood. There is a pretty big Biergarten in front of the Restaurant and upon entering you are greeted by a well suited maritime interiour. Everywhere are paintings of ships or the sea, plenty of ship models are on display. The service staff is super friendly and tries to go the extra mile. Although we had no reservation on a Thursday Evening, we were placed at a nice table and only a few minutes later we were ready to order. The Menu consists mostly of regional specialties. Lots of fish and seafood. We ordered the Labskaus three times and three dark beers. In no time, the ordered meals came to our table and what can I say, it does not look like much when it arrives on a plate but it's really delicious. The portion isn't that big, but sure enough you're fed up. So if you want to treat yourself or some friends or family to a good traditional meal, do not hesitate and visit...
Read moreI was going to rate it 4 stars, because 1) the steal was rather toght 2) one of portions of potato was oversalted 3) the waiter was rushing us when we were ordering because "we are full inside" (well you have at least dozen of free table outside still empty, shouldn't you have enough staff for everyone?) But overall it was good (not great, but good) and I though 4 stars is fare. But as I was paying by card the weigter added 10% tip without asking 😳 I got it back when I asked (you shouldn't be rude to get a tip), but still, how is it ok to just silencly add it? Definitely not acceptable
PS: I hope my review will help to improve, this place can be a 5-star PPS: also buy a child chair - it costs 25€, but it's a life changer for...
Read moreThis was my third visit to this restaurant in ten years... Each time I come to Hamburg to visit with family, we always eat here. It tends to be over the Christmas holidays, but it's like a second home now. So familiar. They have always been able to accommodate us, from a party of seven to twelve. The staff are so welcoming, and really make you feel as if you are eating at a friend's house. The menu has the exact choices to suit any taste and the food has always arrived promptly, piping hot and is exquisite with more than generous servings. I can thoroughly recommend the Weiner Schnitzel, though the pancakes with cinnamon sugar finish any dish...
