qrito — Restaurant in Hamburg

This is a very good Mexican style restaurant conveniently located on Lange Reihe in Hamburg. There are many good restaurants and bars in this area, and we have been to many of them, and qrito is a new favorite. The restaurant is small, seats around 30 people, but quite cozy. The C19 partitions are still up, and we actually liked it because it makes your dining experience a bit more private as the tables are very close to each other. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu is available both through a QR code or on an electronic device. The ordering was easy even though there are incredibly many options. The food came quickly and was delicious! We particularly enjoyed the very spicy salsas - very unusual to have such power in Germany, and we will come back for that! The price range is a little above average but it is well worth it. The quality is very good. We found the music super annoying - German top 20, and it was pretty loud. How about some Mexican or at least latino music? Would go much better...

Overall: Had a really good time, responsive and quick-witted service. Food was very good. Although not really tex-mex like said in other reviews; it has a Californian touch. Chilled non-intrusive hip-hop and pop beats and songs.

Service: We had a reservation that didn’t quite pan out because other guests took longer than expected. Was handled well by the service, inviting us to stay at the bar and offering a small teaser to the group on the house. Other than that, fast to react and precise, there seemed to also be good coordination between service and kitchen.

Food: Incredible Nachos, Burros and Taquitos. Very high quality for the price point, as well as appealing presentation. Assortment of salsas on point, including the classics and experimenting with new ones like chili pesto, all very...

So the sunny side is, that the food is delicious. However, the service is not.

I waited for 50 minutes for a small order, where I've been told that it takes approx. 10 minutes.

I understand, that sometimes when it's busy you have to wait a bit longer, but at least they could come forward and apologise for the extended waiting time or even offer a small complementary beverage.

Turns out they gave my food to someone else who came back a few minutes later complaining that this wasn't his order (he already ate some). So instead of cooking my order immediately, they waited another 10 minutes before cooking it again.

So overall a quiet bad experience...
