We’ve visited this restaurant twice now, and it’s quickly become one of our favorites! The first time we went, we didn’t expect it to be so spacious, but we were pleasantly surprised by how many seats and different areas it offers. The decor and interior design are very beautiful, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes dining here very enjoyable.
As for the menu, the prices are reasonable, and the food is delicious. For starters or side dishes, we highly recommend the pizza pockets—they were perfectly prepared, and we enjoyed every single bite. Another standout was the avocado toast, which was flavorful and satisfying. During that first visit, we also discovered they offer a breakfast buffet, which caught our attention immediately.
We decided to return specifically to try the breakfast buffet, and it didn’t disappoint. The buffet is available every day, with slightly different hours and pricing. From Monday to Saturday, it runs from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and costs €11.95. On Sundays, they offer the “Great Urban Sunday Breakfast Buffet,” which runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM and costs €17.95. However, the Sunday buffet is so popular that reservations are a must—ideally made one to two weeks in advance. Without a reservation, you’re unlikely to find a spot, especially during peak times.
When we finally experienced the Sunday buffet, we were impressed by the variety of dishes available. Although we had expected an even larger selection in a separate area, the options were still excellent, and the quality of the food was top-notch. It was quite busy, as expected, and we noticed that guests without reservations often had to wait or come back another time.
Highlights from the buffet included the Frikadelle, which were flavorful and perfectly cooked, as well as the delightful pastry desserts. They offered as well a range of juices, which meant we didn’t need to order anything extra. For families, the restaurant thoughtfully includes a children’s area, so kids can have fun while their parents enjoy the meal nearby.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and we’re already planning to return to try more dishes from their menu. This is definitely a place...
Read moreThe only thing that gets a 5 Star was the Company I was in. We were a Group of Ten people. The Majority ordered Burger Menus, only one of us ordered a Rice Menu. The Order took so long that by the time my Colleague got her Rice Menu, her order was Stone Cold. I wasn't impressed at all, so she sent her order back . The Resturant offered her a free portion of Chips until her order was ready. My Burger was so mushy, I had to eat it with a knife and fork. That's Untraditional. I normally Tip after I eat. If I am fully satified the Waiter/Waitress gets 5€ but because the Quality of food was lacking, even their fruit Crumble was burnt. I almost chocked as my Colleague offered to share it with me. One Bite and lot of Lemonade and breathing exercises. The Waiter was very friendly but the Cooks need their ears pulling. A Tip mean't everything was ok but it wasn't. Our Group are on the Look out for the right Service in Heidelberg for a large Group, sometimes slightly more. The Best Eats in Heidelberg for me are in the Hauptbahnhof. There was no WLAN so I had to access a Menu Card over my Colleague's Phone. No Internet Connection for as long as I was in the Resturant and you know me. I post reviews almost straight away so what does that tell you? Small groups won't change Mushy Burger Menus, Cold Rice Menus or eat-at-your-own-risk burnt Fruit Crumble Menus. Pull the ears of the Cooks. I'd like to see the Owners or Shareholders eat this food. I'd gladly post pictures...

This time the place was almost empty. We went inside and waited a few minutes. As there were plenty of free tables, we decided to take one, sit and wait. Another 5 minutes went by.
Eventually, we got noticed. The waiter, a nervous young man, came up with a genuinely surprised face. He told us that we should have waited at the entrance for check-in. He also said there's a huge sign with big letters "Anmeldung" at the door. (I checked it later - the sign stayed aside behind the entrance curtain, hardly noticeable). Anyway, the young man said, "I have to disinfect the table first!". Right away, another waitress came up and started spraying the disinfector on the table (and as we were sitting - the spray went up right into our faces).
That was a day full of hard decisions for me, and I just wanted to take my wife to a nice place to reflect on the day and have a nice drink. For years we knew Urban Kitchen is (was) a nice place to spend an evening. Always super-friendly staff and delicious food. Used to be good, but not anymore. Such a pity, but we won't go there anymore.
P.S. And I didn't particularly enjoy Bloody Mary this time. There was something...
