Balthazar — Restaurant in Heidelberg

A blond young lady is somebody I complain about. I ordered a pita with goat cheese and a small glass of orange juice. When outside temperature is -4, I received a big glass of orange juice with 5 cubes of ice on top. So she did not pay any attention to small. In menu it's written Ziegenkäse (Goat cheese), which I did not expect it to be like Chevre mould-ripened. I made a mistake. I did not touch the sandwich because is life treating for people in my condition to risk it. Removing such a creamy thing from sandwich will always leave some pieces on it that shall not be risked. (If you want to know who can not eat such cheeses, anybody with suppressed immune system, such as most of autoimmune patients, people under chemotherapy, any pregnant, etc.) I asked for paying without any major complain. There I politely asked if they can add to their menu that what sort of goat cheese they use, to help people judge better. She just replied that “goat cheese is actually always this, and any other goat cheese (for instance Frischkäse) shall be mentioned as an exception”. I do give to such behaviour one single star. In many restaurants, when customer could not eat anything, they offer a replace or less charge. Balthazar Pizza is a true gem! From the moment we walked in, we were treated like family. We had a large party of 8, and they seated us right away, which was such a relief with the kids in tow. Speaking of family-friendly, this place is PERFECT. It's right down the way from a playground and a beautiful walking path, so it's easy to make a whole day of fun.

They accept both cash and card, making payment super convenient. And let me tell you, the food and wine here are absolutely top-notch. Their Greek pizza is hands-down my favorite – the flavors are so rich and authentic, and you can tell they put real love into each dish. The wine selection is excellent too; it really elevated our meal.

The service was impeccable, with staff who genuinely went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. We just recently past by this invitingly beautiful bistro and decided to fill our empty stomachs. The menu has a good variation of coktails, quality wines and dishes. They offer e.g. Pizza, Burger, Salads and Flammkuchen. We went for a goat cheese salad and a flammkuchen klassisch, both of them very recommendable.
