Marktstübel — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Wish I could give no stars, terrible customer service, very slow and did not apologise for slow service. And then I received wrong order, but because I don’t speak German I didn’t realise until I re read the menu. I was soooo hungry by this point I just ate it as it would take a century to get their attention, and an even longer wait to receive correct order. When I complained and requested for the bill minus my meal they refused. Had to fully pay and completely ruined my evening. Will not return, food was also mediocre. To top it off, the waiter said they had only 3 staff members on that night, one on the bar, one serving and the other in the kitchen. On a FRIDAY NIGHT! The way it was phrased also made it seem like it was the customers fault they were short staffed! I was offered a free drink but I was ready to leave and wanted to the bill minus my order. They said they could not do this as the chef had already left. This seemed incredibly...

The service here was a little slow on account of the fact that they seem to be severely understaffed right now; it took an hour to get our food from when we sat down. However, the food was delicious (I had the skewer), and the beer was good, while the atmosphere was nice but nothing to write home about.

I recommend it if you happen to have a lot of time on your hands, or just want a slow evening spent enjoying the night air of Heidelberg. If you're in a rush, or really hungry, you're probably better off...

Das beste an diesen Café/Restaurant ist die Lage. Es liegt direkt am Marktplatz in Neuenheim. Von Service und Essen kann man das leider nicht behaupten. Wir waren da um einen Kaffee zu trinken und wollten dazu einen Apfelstrudel bestellen. Dieser war aus, daher hat man uns als Alternative den „Kaiserschmarrn“ vorgeschlagen. Was dann kam hätte jeden Wiener vom Stuhl fallen lassen.. Leider habe ich kein Bild gemacht, aber lassen Sie es mich so beschreiben: vom außen wie Spätzle, aber mit matschiger Konsistenz getränkt mit Vanille Soße. Geschmacklich war es sogar ganz akzeptabel, aber hatte einfach nichts mit Kaiserschmarrn zu tun.

Frech wurde es dann bei der Rechnung, hier hat man einfach wahllos und händisch irgendeinen Preis dazu geschrieben, weil es dieses Dessert offiziell auf der Karte nicht gab. Auf Nachfrage warum das Gericht, nicht ordentlich boniert auf der Rechnung erscheinen kann wurde erklärt, dass das es saisonal wäre und daher nur vom Chef eingetragen werden kann, welcher nicht da ist. Der Küchenchef wurde dann als Verstärkung dazugeholt, der mir auch erklären wollte, dass das normal ist. Der Artikel wäre zwar in der Kasse eingetragen, aber könne trotzdem nicht auf der Rechnung erscheinen … ich habe früher in der Gastro gearbeitet habe und für mich sieht das sehr danach aus, als wollte sich hier jemand was neben der Kasse weg...
