The Door - Cocktailbar & Backyard — Restaurant in Karlsruhe

A great place to come and enjoy drinks with family or friends inside or outside. After a certain time of the night, everyone is shoved inside rather quickly though, so be ready for that especially if you just ordered snacks and might need to move them on your own.

The drinks are hit or miss, but all prepared with some very unique ingredients that are sure to make an impression. Some were amazing and refreshing while others tasted like soap and no one would drink them. Better to order a bunch of them with friends and share sips so you can identify your favorite one(s).

Endless nuts are served in a jar to keep you nice and thirsty. You can also order one of the many excellent snacks they provide. The drinks may be a bit overpriced but the snacks are very well priced.

Our server was really nice and helpful. He spoke English and German. The other server was nice too, but she was very shy and not very helpful when we had to prepare to move our stuff inside but she was busy cleaning up.

The Door is an amazing bar with a warm atmosphere and an exquisite choice on different types of cocktails. While each cocktail has a perfect balance and harmony in its composition, the cocktails can be very different to each other and it’s truly a sensoric experience exploring the different flavors. An ornithologist would feel very home in the door, as the cocktails are named after bird types, while the menu exhibits a remarkable iconography of each birth. Among my favorites so far is the “Colibri”, a gently-smoked mezcal based variation of a Margarita. Worth mentioning as well is a hand-balanced variation on different nuts offered with the cocktails. Delicious drinks, friendly staff, great service, a beautifully artistic menu reflect attention to detail in every sense, truly enrich the nightlife of Karlsruhe and make “The Door” without doubt a 5 stars...

As a local I must say one of the best cocktail bars in Karlsruhe. Very cozy atmosphere, very friendly and competent staff. Very interesting, special and tasty cocktails. The venue and the subtle background music (still allowing for good conversations) provide a cozy atmosphere – exactly as I would hope for, for such a bar. No matter if in a group or with just a friend, this is a good place to go for a quality drink. Not too much space available, so I would recommend calling for a reservation when coming with a larger group or on Friday/Saturday. Will definitely recommend this bar! 👍🍸
