481 Pizzamanufaktur — Restaurant in Münster

First time in Münster and as a good Italian I am of course attracted by the best pizza in town. They suggested me 481 Pizzamanufaktur as a good pizzeria, so let's see. Location not so far from the city center but pretty anonymous. The place is crowded outside, while inside it is almost empty due to the hot temperature. I asked for one place and they put me on the corner inside, where no air was passing and a led light was pointing directly on my head to make me feel even warmer. After few minutes I ordered a Pizza salami piccante, a Fritz Cola and a small water. The drinks arrived pretty soon, but smaller than you could possibly imagine. It seemed they were playing on make the customers thirsty to make more money. The restaurant was crowded outside , as I said, so I waited more than 25 minutes. That wasn't quite a problem. But, the couple in front of me which set at the table 10 minutes after me, was served few minutes before me. That wasn't nice indeed. Finally the Pizza arrived and it was burned. Probably, I shouldn't be so surprised, since most of the pictures on Google looked really burned, but I was nevertheless disappointed. Too hungry to complain and wait for another one. The dough was not bad, it was a good quality, also if I don't really enjoy doughs so similar to white bread, the one that you have to chew for 10 minutes before being able to swallow. It is a matter of taste, but I prefer the really light one, quite difficult to achieve and this wasn't one of these. The seasoning was supposed to be mozzarella, tomato's sauce and spicy salami, but in the middle they put also some onions. They could have put more mozzarella and more sauce, but also this is a matter of taste. I ate as fast as I could, because I was feeling far too warm after 30 minutes waiting. 10 minutes and I was at the cash desk ready to pay and leave. The cost of the Pizza was acceptable, while the cost for the drinks was far too high. I was ready to go, but at the cash desk they didn't accept my German card, so I had to go to the atm and came back there to settle my bill and put an end to this unpleasant evening. Settled the bill, while I was finally leaving the place one of the girl with a far too enthusiastic voice screamed her "GoodBYE!" that sounded to me like "get out of here troublemaker and never come back!", but you know, with a touch of girly kindness. That is for sure, you will never...

They got everything right about a pizza and everything wrong about organisation.

I am giving them 2 starts only because the pizza was good.

I went there on a Saturday evening (of course it is a very busy time). I booked the table one day before and they gave me only one slot and did not offer any flexibility with the timing, which is okay and understandable. Inspite of the reservation, we had to wait for more that 15 mins to get a table allocated. There was no place to even sit while waiting. We were just standing there.

The starters took forever to arrive and the pizzas took even longer to arrive. Approximate waiting time was around half an hour. (May be this was because it was a Saturday evening)

Oh they do not accept cards (any cards), so make sure you take cash with you. We had to go find an ATM, withdraw money and had to pay by cash. Which was also pretty annoying.

However, the pizzas tasted good.

Der Besuch war ein totaler Reinfall. Ich esse sehr häufig und gerne Pizza, am liebsten aus dem Steinofen. Daher wollte ich auch die Pizzamanufaktur einmal ausprobieren. Sie liegt etwas abseits des Zentrums in einem Mischgebiet. Vor dem Haus stehen auf dem Bürgersteig Tische und Stühle nett dekoriert, leider blickt man direkt auf die gegenüberliegende Tiefgarageneinfahrt bzw. den Kundenparkplatz eines Sanitätshauses. Die Gemütlichkeit hält sich also in Grenzen. Da es Regen zu geben drohte, ging ich ins Restaurant. Es war hell und freundlich eingerichtet, allerdings hatte ich nicht das Gefühl in einem Restaurant zu sein, das Ambiente wirkte auf mich, als hätten Studenten mit eigenen Mitteln versucht, ein Vereinsheim zu eröffnen. Geflämmte Holzverkleidung muss man eben mögen. Ich bestellte die Hauspizza 481 mit vier Käsesorten (die teuerste für 12 Euro, die Karte ist sehr übersichtlich) und schaute mich um. Mir fiel auf, dass das Personal aus studentische wirkenden jungen Männern bestand, die ebenso gekleidet waren, bunt durcheinander. Wie ein Anachronismus wirkte dabei der einzige italienische Kellner, der so um die 60 Jahre sein musste und mit einer altmodischen weißen Kellnerjacke und schwarzer Hose gekleidet war. Hier prallen offenbar Generationen aufeinander. Während ich wartete, bestellte einer der Kellner ein Getränk beim Barkeeper mit dem Bemerken, dass der Gast viel Eis wünsche. Daraufhin erwiderte der Barkeeper sehr laut und für die anderen Gäste gut verständlich, dass er es liebe, einfaches Eis für 6 Euro zu verkaufen. Das wiederholte er in gleicher Lautstärke noch zweimal, ein absolutes no go für mich. Dann kam meine Pizza, ganz frisch und heiß. Leider war das auch so ziemlich das einzig Positive, was ich darüber sagen kann. Um es nett zu formulieren, die Pizza war sehr geschmacksneutral. Den einzigen Geschmack boten der Gorgonzola in einem Viertel, und das verloren wirkende Basilikumblättchen als Deko. Die drei anderen Käsesorten waren sehr reichlich, schmeckten aber nach nichts. Aufgrund der Menge blieb der Pizzaboden, ein klein wenig Salz hätte ihm nicht geschadet, auch sehr matschig. Der Rand war üppig und lecker, dreiviertel waren schön gebräunt mit einzelnen schwarzen Blasen, so wie es sein soll. Das letzte Viertel war aber komplett schwarz, so dass ich die Kruste erst mit dem Messer etwas abkratzen musste. A propos Messer. Das Besteck war sauber, aber sehr fleckig, nicht sehr ansprechend. Insgesamt war ich sehr enttäuscht und sagte dies auch dem jungen Kellner, der sehr freundlich und professionell reagierte. Ich musste nur 10 Euro für die Pizza und ein Wasser zahlen. Das fand ich sehr fair und vergebe daher auch den zweiten Stern. Noch einmal werde ich dort allerdings nicht...
