If I am asked to select one Italian restaurant in the world, no matter how many Michelin Star restaurants I have ever visited, I have no hesitation to pick Ristorante Como Lario da Bruno in Mainz.

Even though it was weekday on 07 November 2019, the restaurant was full of local dressed-up guests (rather than casual tourists). It seemed to be formal but very famous for local people and without reservation, seemed to be no chance to experience and enjoy the wonderful dishes. When my family visited, the old man (Mr. Bruno Bellini) provided us with a small table and we could order various dishes. The old man was so kind to explain his signature dishes and how to try them. I hope that this review finds him, his family and all his kind colleagues well and safe against Coronavirus Pandemic!

The reason why I leave the review even a year later, because I would not like to forget the name of restaurant and eventually the feeling I had with the formal staffs and top notch dishes, so that I could have chance to visit the restaurant one more...

60 years ago next year this restaurant opened. This restaurant is not for everyone I will admit. But if you want a time warp into a weird old school Quentin Terintino movie with amazing mafia style Italian food. This is the place. We are from North America and this totally reminded me of the old school Italian in New York. For those reviews that suggested the decor needs updating, shame on you. We had mussels with white wine sauce, minestrone soup and an Italian chop salad and all were excellent. Looking forward to returning to try the other...

Can’t believe that people name this quality food, or real Italian food. We asked for a pizza and a lasagna and this is pretty far from something handmade. Both of them were obviously precooked. The dough of the pizza can’t be more industrial. That two dishes plus 2 glasses of red wine 39€. It’s really sad to see this kind of places calling each other Italian restaurants. Auch wenn es von außen altbacken und schäbig aussieht, so hat uns die positive Google-Bewertung tatsächlich dazu getrieben bei 'Da Bruno' vorbeizuschauen. Auf die Bitte hin, uns möglichst schnell zu bedienen, da wir noch rechtzeitig zu den Nullfünfern kommen wollte, sagte uns der überaus sympathische Kellner, dass dies kein Problem für ihn und sein Team darstellen würde. In der Tat lag die Karte noch bevor wir uns setzten bereits auf dem Tisch und unsere Bestellung wurde zügig aufgenommen. Nach 5min kamen dann schon die Getränke und nur weitere 5min später folgte dann meine Pizza "alla Fausto", die eine Zusammenstellung aus Schinken, Ei, Pilzen und Zwiebeln zu bieten hat. Sehr lecker und außerdem preislich auch sehr fair mit 8,50€. Kann jedem dieses typisch italienische Restaurant nur empfehlen und würde jederzeit wiederkommen :)

Eine Pizzeria aus meiner Jugendzeit....Nach dem Kino sind wir( 1978) immer dort eingelaufen..Es sieht immer noch so aus wie damals und schmeckt noch genauso gut....ich wurde tatsächlich um 45 Jahre zurückversetzt...der einzige Wermutstropfen und,es,war mein Fehler die Speisekarte nicht richtig gelesen zu haben...( alle Extrawünsche) hab mir meine Pizza selbst mit zusammengestellt undxes war nichts exklusives schlugen mit fast 10 € zu Buche...aber aus Fehlern lernt man...was nicht heißt das ich dort nicht mehr hingehe...im Gegenteil es war super lecker...
