This place makes my ex biz look easy. But the details require acumen. A room with expensive choices. Tableware and glassware are a full cut above normal. A menu designed to comfort with the familiar while hinting at menu exotica while creating a card that can be quickly produced from preparation. And kitchen and dining room teams that have what it takes to deliver. None of this is outstanding in itself. Together, it's as unusual in Germany as opposition politicians are in Russia. A safe bet in Mannheim.

Ich war im Friedrichs in Mannheim zu einer privaten Feier und kann nur sagen: absolut empfehlenswert! Schon der Empfang mit dem feinen Crémant vom Weingut Jülg hat den Abend perfekt eingeleitet. Die Vorspeisen waren ein echtes Highlight – eine tolle Vielfalt, wunderschön präsentiert und geschmacklich auf den Punkt. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich das Vitello und die aromatischen Teriyaki-Pilze, dazu die fluffigen Baozi, die mich direkt an Vietnam erinnert haben. Beim Hauptgang sollte man unbedingt den Venere-Reis probieren, der mit seinem nussigen Aroma perfekt zu den butterzarten Short Ribs passt – eine wirklich harmonische Kombination. Auch die Getränkeauswahl war erstklassig: Der Espresso Martini und der Whisky Sour waren perfekt ausbalanciert und zeigten, dass hier echte Bar-Profis am Werk sind. Dazu ein super Service und eine spannende Weinauswahl, die keine Wünsche offenlässt. Fazit: Ein rundum gelungener Abend – vom Empfang über die Küche bis zu Drinks und Service einfach top. Das Friedrichs ist definitiv eine der besten Adressen in Mannheim für Genuss und Gastlichkeit.

I have planned a nice evening with my elder parents there. However, this evening and visit to Mannheim went very bad. After we chose a nice table and the staff allowed us to sit there, they have out of nothing changed their minds and asked us to sit somewhere els. They have claimed that the table is only for two. Of course in 1 minute later a group of 4 was allowed to sit there!!! We have asked the Chef to clarify this problematic. However, his response was shocking for us! We did not even deserve a sorry or anything! Their arrogant way was really hurting especially for my elder parents! I wonder if we just have the wrong skin color? Maybe we should not...
