Zwickerstube — Restaurant in Mannheim

Ok, to be fair, there is a new owner since 4 days. But the reason for me to place a review is exactly that, as the previous reviews should be deleted and can no longer be trusted. Please forget all review$ up to August 2025. We were welcomed in the restaurant but if we would have known that A. It would take more than 1.5 hours to prepare a simple meal and B. We were unable to pay with card and they only accept cash or PayPal, we would have walked away immediately. 1.5 hours for the meals we had is unacceptable. What a deception, we were drawn by the pictures and reviews which are old and for the previous owners of the restaurant. We payed 122 euros in cash, for 4 schnitzels with some potatoes, 6 drinks, and without any dessert. 3 ladies in serving staff and they have no clue what to do. There was a group of 14 people who got their dinners in turns, which means that many had finished before others even received their food. Maybe this will improve over time, but the main message is, do not trust the current pictures and reviews (or menu) up and until...

Würde am liebsten 10 Sterne geben! Wir waren spontan zu zweit in Mannheim und wollten gut bürgerlich essen gehen. Kurz gesucht und direkt in 300 m Entfernung dieses Restaurant entdeckt. Auf Grund der Bewertungen sind wir dann auch hin. Innen sehr alt, aber super heimelisch. Wie früher in alten Kneipen. Man fühlt sich direkt wohl. Dafür gibt's die ersten 5 Sterne (andere bemängeln, dass das Interieur schon bessere Tage erlebt hat, aber ich finde das gehört eben zum Charme dazu. Es war nicht dreckig oder sonstiges.) Alle Tische waren reserviert, trotzdem wurde uns ein Tisch angeboten. Wir gehen davon aus, dass die Reservierung erst für später am Abend war. Speisekarte ist klein, aber es hört sich alles lecker an! Dazu gab es noch Tafeln, auf denen das Tagesgericht stand. Wir hatten uns schnell entschieden und auch auf Wünsche bezüglich Dressing für den Salat auf Grund von Allergie wurde 1a eingegangen. Essen kam super schnell, war heiß und schmeckte wie bei Oma daheim. Mehr Kompliment für ein Essen kann man nicht geben. Dafür gibt's die weiteren 5 Sterne! Wir hatten den Braten mit Rotkraut und Knödel und das Cordon Bleu mit Bratkartoffeln.

1a, wir würden sofort wieder hin, wenn wir in Mannheim sind. Nächstes Mal natürlich mit vorzeitiger Reservierung, damit wir auch zu 100% dort einen...

Cena di lavoro. Dopo aver ordinato e iniziato a consumare, ci viene riferito che accettano pagamento solo in contanti. Proprietaria (la donna) molto maleducata e asciutta, non un sorriso! Sembrava infastidita per ogni richiesta. Mentre stavano mangiando ci ha portato lo scontrino totale (senza chiedere se volevamo ancora qualcosa, dolce, caffè, amaro). Essendo in viaggio per lavoro avevamo bisogno di uno scontrino a testa per la nota spese e glielo abbiamo gentilmente richiesto. La signora ha iniziato a INSULTARCI nella Sua lingua non sapendo che un nostro collega parla tedesco e ha capito, ahimè, ogni parola. I miei colleghi troppi signori per rispondere a tale provocazione. Inoltre si intravedeva parte della cucina che sembrava da brividi…tra vari barattoli polverosi la sensazione è stata di cucina trascurata e sporca. Un locale che in Italia sarebbe sopravvissuto...
