Rude Waitress Ruined Our Morning

First of all I’d like to start by saying I have a lot of respect for people who work in service. I have been to many places in Munich and I always try to leave a tip and smile 10x when crew is nice to me. I think having kind staff is the way to make a place better than others. I’m only writing this review because I felt so mistreated that I had to.

During our visit, there was one male waiter and 2 female waitresses. Unfortunately one of the female ones completely ruined our day by being absolutely and openly rude to us. I will explain what happened in detail below, but no one goes out for a coffee and pay for visiting a place just to get treated like trash, and I find this unacceptable. Human decency is the bare minimum when working a job that involves humans.

I came in without a reservation, and a nice waitress told me I could go to the window seats at the back on the right side, behind the coat hangers, since no other table was available. I accepted, and sat there for a while waiting for my friend. Then, I saw a family leave theirs, so I went back and asked her if it’s okay for me to sit there instead (window seats were facing outside, and I was wearing a skirt, which made it hard for me to sit comfortably). She replied very kindly and said yes. So I brought my coat and bag to this new table. This is where the “mean” waitress first saw me, and she already had a look on her face that was unnecessary. She asked with an attitude “do you have a reservation?”. I said no but your colleague told me I can sit here. She said she will quickly check if it’s actually free and get back to us. After a while she came back and said that table is taken in 20 minutes, and said we could sit on the couch if we’d like. We said okay and moved there. This is the start of the point where I don’t understand why she behaved like a complete villain towards us. She took our orders with a disgusted expression on her face, then when she brought my matcha latte, she threw the napkin my way. The male waiter who brought the hummus a bit later, was completely kind. So we tried to ignore her behavior. Then when we were done eating and drinking, we wanted to pay, got her attention, she said ok, but kept ignoring us and not bringing our bill for 45 minutes. So we stood up and decided to just pay at the bar. They had to call her over for us to pay (I guess because she is the one who was taking care of us, she had to write the bill etc). We obviously did not want to tip her. We paid separately and as we were leaving she said, in a loud and openly sarcastic way “i hope the rest of your days goes AMAZING”. We were shocked, and I said “yours too”. Then we left. I think I’m never coming back to this place because I’m absolutely traumatized. I have never met someone as rude as her, we did not say anything back to her other than this “you too”. I know this review does nothing but I can’t believe a person gets to work here by being a complete...

We visited around 3:30 pm and, unfortunately, there weren't many food options available at that time, which is understandable. However, the first disappointment came when we had to ask three times for water for our dog, who was clearly very thirsty.

As for the food and drinks, I ordered the broccoli soup and hummus with homemade bread, while my partner had some fried balls. The broccoli soup was completely bland, lacking any flavor. The hummus was good, but the bread was dry.

The service was a major letdown and really frustrated me. We asked for wine and were initially told they had some, but then they came back saying they didn’t. We ordered another kind, only for them to return again saying they only had one glass left. They charged us for 0.2 liters but brought us 0.1. On top of that, after we were almost finished with our meal, they finally asked if we needed salt or pepper. It took 20 minutes just to get our drinks.

We also ordered dessert and coffee, but after the coffee arrived, we waited a long time for the cake and my partner had to get up and ask for it because no one responded to us, despite trying to get their attention.

Except for one friendly, experienced waitress, most of the staff seemed to be young and inexperienced, which contributed to the poor service.

We won’t be...

It's a lovely place to go to chat with a friend or study in the sun. They also have a wonderful interior that is inviting to lounge as well. The prices, food and coffee are all really good. I was impressed with how well the Cafe Freddo tasted. So the batista knows what they are doing. I've been able to try their food more and it is absolutely lovely. Generally seasonal and full of flavor. It's surprising that the prices aren't higher for such quality. Overall, a lovely place and I will be back to enjoy the coffee and study more
