Shimai — Restaurant in Munich

Please be warned and very careful about this restaurant and when paying ask for your full bill. They are adding behind your back already a significant tip amount that they did not get your approval if you want to give a tip before.

They have tried to do this to me twice now, (particular male waiter with glasses) The first time, I have decided not to post a review but second time means it's regular practice so I decided to post about it.

If you don't watch out, you will end up paying a tip twice (if you want to pay a tip on your bill)

This should be considered illegal/fraudulent practice and bad service so they get a one star for service

Despite that also for being disorganized in terms of laying cutlery and bringing dishes (starters and main course). Their selection of deserts is limited and tastes like something I have bought before in a local supermarket freezer (the Mochi ice in particular) I would not recommend desserts here.

Overall the food courses and atmosphere are nice.

But I don't think I will be going back here since I see a lack of dignity (in service) which could be manifesting in other ways in the kitchen/behind the scenes.

Came for dinner with a friend (who loves this place) on Thursday night and will for sure come back!!

🔥What’s special? Apart from your standard spring rolls, edamame or bun bowls, you’ll find crispy sweet potatoes with peanut dip, aubergine 🍆 with coriander and leek deep or 🥑avocado, sweet potato 🍠 and cashew salad on the menu. Definitely a must try!!

💁‍♀️Service: waiters were super attentive.

🏡Vibe: Its a very popular place and you’ll need a reservation. Huge outdoor and indoor seating area. We sat outside and it was quite noisy. It may not be your ideal restaurant if you’re looking for a more quiet place.

🥗Vegan dishes: Lots of options for plant-based eaters.

🚾 Toilet seemed pretty small and is not suitable for wheelchair or strollers.

we visited this place because it is an asian restaurant that has the best ratings and most reviews nearby our hotel. AND I COULDNT AGREE MORE! oh my god i wish i can eat here 3 time a day, everyday!

i tried 2 menus: the basic/original pho beef, and the noodle dish with lime dressing.

the basic pho beef soup: the soup has a very deep and thick and rich flavour. the beef was thick, but suprisingly EXTREMELY TENDER! the price was a very good deal with such flavours! the best soup and best beef i ever had among all vietnamese restaurants i had. i compared this review with another vietnamese restaurant near the Viktualienmarkt and around 10ish vietnamese restaurants i had in the UK.
