Had a few days visiting Munich last week, went on a bar crawl one night to see what was around, stumbled across the drunken cow and decided to nip in. Was served by a nice blonde haired gentleman who recommended drinks for us and was very nice. So we got comfortable in the place and was chatting to a group of German people next to us, the other guy with the goatie beard wasnt taking us on at all, and the only time he originally spoke to us was when one bloke lifted his leg onto the bench to sort his shoe, fair enough he shouldnt of done it, and the goatie guy shouts at the him rather rudely. so anyway we are having our drinks, then me and my friend are talking about something and i said if im right you owe me a drink, so i asks the guy at the bar and he smugly says, i dont understand you and walks away as im speaking to him, pretending he couldnt speak english. I forgot to mention we where 4 English men. so anyway time goes on, then i think an american man walked in asking for directions, the goatie guy speaks to him in perfect english, so we call him out and he just blanks us. i finish my drink, my friends still have theirs, so i enquire about another, when i asked what it was he was making he just said its a drink and walks off again, my friends notice, and we pick him up on his attitude and start admittedly giving him attitude back. so one of our party says that he lacks people skills and isnt a very good advertisement for the company, his reply is, this is my bar, i can treat people how i want. things started getting heated and he walked off into the kitchen so we decided to just leave, i personally have come to the conclusion that the owner doesnt like english people, because everyone else was welcomed apart from us. if we where doing anything that was causing a problem we were not made aware of it, so because of this i can only assume. very sad, as the rest of munich was a very nice and welcoming place. didnt get to try the food, and the beer was bottled. walked down the street to the next bar, the Maxvorstadt Wirtshaus, and the staff where very welcoming, the bar tender got in with the banter, the beer was on draught and it was just overall a better bar. by all means give the drunken cow a try, personally i wont be heading there the next time im in munich and wont be recommending it to anyone else i know whos in the area. i look forward to the reply from the managment on this one, since my original review of the bar on facebook was met with me being blocked from the page and i can assume my comment deleted, since the other reviews that were not the best where answered with counter criticism and no more replies from the original poster. hoe to hear...
Read moreI had the cheeseburger and sweet potato fries. The taste was good but nothing special or extraordinary about it. I was recommended the place by two friends and I just didn’t get what’s the hype about this place. The price for the burger in my opinion is too high for what you get. There are cheaper places with similar quality standards. The place was also super crowded when I visited so it took a while to get the waiter to get my order and then to finally get it on my table. Overall, the burger was good, but I wouldn’t say it was my favourite ever. It is not an affordable place (around 20 euros for basic burger, sweet potato fries and a spetzi), you can get better value elsewhere. The staff could be friendlier, they didn’t ask me about the type of bread I wanted, by default they got me the white bread option. I probably...
Read moreI have been to most of Munichs burger places and the Drunken Cow is definitely one of the best, if not the very best. Their menu is unique and I have tried several burgers on it and they are all fantastic (Try the Kahuna or Cow & Goat, they will blow your mind). The bread tastes great, not like most of the other places that get frozen buns. The meat is juicy and tender, grilled medium if not ordered differently. The sweet potatoe fries are the best I have tried in Europe. They also have a great selection of spirits and the bartender certainly knows how to mix really good gin tonics that go perfectly well with the burgers. 100% recommended if you look for one of the best...
