Honestly, overpriced and overhyped.
Butter fish tacos had only a tiny bit of fish, and the tortilla wasn't cooked enough. Flavor was really good though.
Beef tataki was overcooked and also the wrong cut of beef for the dish. Flavor was good, but it's ponzu and truffle, so you can't really mess that up.
The quality of the tuna in the tartare was good, and the sauce tasted good, but there was barely any sauce.
I liked the wagyu roll, my husband didn't (because the quality of the wagyu was not to the standard we would expect). It also cost 50€, and we were recommended it without looking at the price. It felt like they just wanted us to buy one of the most expensive items on the menu. So that was annoying.
The nigiri was really disappointing. Although the sushi rice had good flavor, the fish was cut very thin, and the salmon was the only fish that seemed fresh. The rest of the fish tasted and felt old.
The cocktails looked beautiful, but were watery with very little alcohol (except the Pho cocktail which was surprisingly good. That's the only truly delicious thing we had the entire meal).
The quality of the fish AND wagyu should be better for the prices.
All in all, we were extremely underwhelmed. And for a meal costing almost 200€, it should have been...
Read moreAfter trying Sushi Xeng by Geisha, we decided to visit Geisha Gartnerplatz since the menu and concept seemed very similar. The interior here is definitely a step up—more stylish and with a much larger selection of drinks, making it feel like a more premium experience compared to Sushi Xeng.
However, when it comes to sushi and starters, the menu is about 95% the same—same taste, same presentation—but at almost double the price. This makes it pretty clear that both places are connected, likely under the same ownership.
If you’re looking for a more elevated atmosphere with better drink options, Geisha Gartnerplatz is the better choice. But if your focus is just on enjoying great sushi in a more casual setting at a better price, Sushi Xeng offers exactly the same food without the extra cost.
Overall, Geisha Gartnerplatz is great for a nicer night out, but if you don’t need the upgraded setting, you’re getting almost the same sushi experience at Sushi Xeng for a more...
