Our visit to "Mamma Bao" was characterized by minimalist furnishings and attentive service. Unfortunately, the door of the restaurant could not close in freezing temperatures and the window seat led to cold feet. On a positive note, the delicious lichie juice and hot tea were excellent. Unfortunately, the dishes were served cold and all tasted of the same sauce, regardless of the bao option and „silky aubergine ricebowl“ chosen. The "popcorn chicken" turned out to be simple deep-fried chicken, with no hint of popcorn. The portion size was reasonable, but the overall positive image was missing. The extremely loud music added to the volume. Conclusion: Our first and last visit to "Mamma Bao" was characterized by average food, coldness and noise.

New gen trendy Chinese street food chain in Munich, with a clean minimalist interior, open kitchen and active traffic. Signature dishes are Biang Biang noodles and as the name suggests, Bao buns. Service quick and friendly: buns are delivered to the table in less than 3 min after an order. Although, unfortunately the speed and fluffiness of the bun were only positives here — the chicken was rather over fried, dry and there was almost no sauce to it, so I ended up utilizing the sauce remains from the noodle bowl. Noodle bowl was indeed flavourful, with thick and chewy noodles, lots of veggies in top and flavourful mild spicy sauce (your can also choose the level of spiciness - and I recommend to take maximum for everyone who tolerate or well).

We discovered this restaurant by chance. And I read the reviews. One of them said the pork dumplings soup was delicious. So I had to try. We were a group of three people. I had the dumplings soup, my friend had fried chicken bao and the other one had hadpulled noodles with cabbage and pak Choi. We were very satisfied with our food. The dumplings soup was sour and umami. Just amazing. The handpulled noodles were chewy and soft and the bao was soft and fluffy. Were pleasantly surprised by the food. The staff were very friendly and the interior of the restaurant were nice. And there’re hidden details that makes the restaurant look very cute. And they also had merch. I would recommend you to visit this restaurant. 10/10

Used to be an OK spot for Chinese noodles in Schwabing, but sadly our last visit for lunch ended up a service disaster.

There used to be a few courteous staff, including an always-smiling middle-aged Chinese gentleman and a highly attentive black lady. In the last visit, none of the previous staff were there. The two ladies at the entrance were busy chatting with each other, giving barely a glance as we entered and waited right next to them. So we went ahead and took a table.

Some minutes later, a very young Chinese man in restaurant uniform, possibly a teenager, came and rudely demanded that we move from the four-seat table to a two-seat one. Then he swirled back without showing where to go. No greetings, pleasantries, apologies, as should be the norm in such cases. And the restaurant was sparsely populated at that time, with many empty four-seat tables. We felt that his behavior was adversarial and aggressive, so we left.

We don't think we'll try this Mamma Bao Adalbertstr branch again, after such a demeaning treatment to regular customers. We may yet go back to Mamma Bao Augustenstr branch in the hope that this young man is not there.

More likely, when we crave Chinese noodles in Munich, we'll go to Chen's Nudelbar inside Galeria department store at Marienplatz (convenient location) or the super popular Max’s Beef Noodles near Sendlinger Tor (worth...
