My experience at the expensive, touristy wurst restaurant in Munich's city center was disappointing. While it's true that Munich is known for its traditional German sausages, this particular restaurant left much to be desired. Firstly, the prices were exorbitant, even for a city center location. It felt like they were capitalizing on tourists without offering a truly exceptional dining experience. The quality of the sausages, while not terrible, didn't justify the steep prices. One of the biggest letdowns was the lack of vegan options. In a time when dietary preferences and restrictions are increasingly common, it's shocking that a prominent restaurant in a major city wouldn't offer any vegan alternatives. It felt exclusionary and outdated. Additionally, the atmosphere was overrun with tourists, which detracted from the authenticity and charm that one might hope to find in a traditional German wurst restaurant. It felt like a tourist trap rather than a genuine local experience. In summary, if you're looking for an expensive, touristy spot in Munich's city center with limited dietary choices and a less-than-authentic vibe, this restaurant might fit the bill. However, for those seeking an authentic, value-for-money dining experience with vegan options, I would recommend exploring other options in Munich.

I had learnt of this place during my college orientation day. It is said that at times when the water in München was unsafe to drink, people would have beer from this place and others near the city centre Marienplatz. So this place has history and culture. My enthusiasm to capture that history fizzed out the moment I stepped inside. It might be an isolated case (and you might disagree) but I couldn't help but notice that every staff other than the floor manager were grumpy and provided below par service. We were not allowed to take photos of the wall decor that had so much history to tell. Instead of serving 1 litre beers our refill were 0.5 litre 🍺🍺. Needless to say, the kellner (waiter) argued that we had ordered a refill and flatly refused to change the order 😕😔 The saving grace was the food and drink. The Augustiner beer tasted great and their world famous grilled sausages (unsere weltbekannten Rostbratwürstl) truly lived up to their name. We sat outside as the bar was full. The atmosphere was lively and we had some nice conversations with random people (mostly tourists) who can for a quick drink and bite. I still cannot understand how I tipped for such pathetic service. Maybe it is by habit 🤦🏻‍♂️

This place was recommended and good call! Very charming restaurant. Dark wood interior with beer steins and plates on the shelves, many photos on the walls. We dined on the second floor which is cute also. Lots of outdoor tables if you visit when it’s a bit warmer. Most tables are large (seating 6+) so you might be sat with other guests (it’s fun). The food was quite good. I love a grilled bratwurst and they specialize in that. We tried the pork sausages and the Nuernberger wurst. Both came with some tasty sauerkraut (I believe horseradish or potato salad are options for the side). I like all the options for portions, some come in 6 or 8 wursts etc. My husband enjoyed the beer, especially the Dunkel. After trying it recently for the first time, I plan to try as many kaiserschmarm as possible. This was a good one. Big portion for one person (easily feeds 2-3). Thicker pancake than I’ve had but very tasty. I loved the crispy caramelized parts and the applesauce was a nice accompaniment. Our waiter was funny and friendly. Great service. You can make reservations online (it’s not a huge place so if possible, make a reservation). I would definitely eat here again.

Probably the worst place I’ve been to in my life. The staff are absolutely horrible. My girlfriend is German so it’s not even that the language barrier was an issue. It’s a long story so strap yourself in. Short story is that the customer service, in particular the culture the manager sets, is appalling.

We walked in and eventually got barked at to go sit inside because outside was closed (this is understandable due to the time however the way it was said was the problem). Once sat inside, we asked for two beers which came out half full. My girlfriend went to speak to the bartender about them and ask them to be filled up. However, he was very busy smoking a joint further in the back so she had to wait for him to finish this important activity before she was able to speak to anyone.

By the time he had finished, she was then promptly shouted at because apparently we had drank out of the beers and this was why they were so low. The waitress who served us initially told the bartender that we hadn’t as she had seen us and asked him to just fill them up. Captain customer service then waited for the waitress to leave before proceeding to again shout at my girlfriend about how she shouldn’t drink the beers and they wouldn’t be at such a low level. I would like to at this point mention that while I understand that in Germany, the beers generally come with a larger head, I may as well have called what was served to us an ice cream because the head filled 3/4 of the glass and settled into liquid to fill half of the cup (approx 250 ml).

Unperturbed by this incredibly pleasant experience, the two German gentleman who were sat at our table then asked us if we could smell what they could smell. I responded that yes it was quite evident someone was smoking weed nearby and my girlfriend said yes she had just waited for the bartender to finish his joint before she was able to speak to someone. One of these gentlemen then went to speak to the waitress to ask that it stop as the smell was filling the bar.

This resulted in the manager coming by about 5 minutes later and aggressively shouting in German at everyone at the table about how we can all leave if we don’t like it and culminated in the two Germans leaving while the manager continued to be aggressive about the situation. At one point, he was squaring up to the customer who proceeded to ask him to step away (in German but it didn’t take a genius to figure out what he was saying).

So after such a warm and hospitable welcome, we decided to finish the half beer we had received and just go on our way. Unfortunately, the waitress declared that they don’t accept card and we needed to pay with cash. Admittedly, we had none but there was a cash machine next door one of us could have quickly dashed to so we could pay. This was met with disgust by the waitress who said that she has no idea we would come back. We made the point that one of us would wait but she just spat an answer back at us that it was fine and we could use the card machine which was suddenly available.

This review will probably not make much difference given the location of the restaurant and that tourists will always be in abundance in the city, however I would strongly urge people to avoid this place as it is quite easily the worst place I’ve ever been in terms of customer service. Good luck if you go in there,...

Edit: I appreciate managements response though this is literally the same reply to the numerous reviews stating the discrimination. The call to boycott you is not ridiculous and not outrageous. It is a natural response to a business which does not treat its customers well, especially people of Color. Please check your own reviews and see how many people have complained about the same issue. I would recommend you take an honest look at this discriminatory behaviour and take steps to remove it. However, as you clearly don’t need the business of people of colour considering how many of us you have turned away, perhaps your discrimination would work in your favor as you only get the customers you deem fit for your establishment. Your reply does NOT negate the experiences of myself and the numerous others who have faced discrimination at your restaurant. We have no reason to manufacture stories - no one has the time or energy to put in a negative review if it’s not true. If we’re speaking out, it happened. Collectively us people of Color will take our millions of $$$ of business elsewhere, as you have shown no inclination to improve this behavior, are denying it even happened, and continue to do it. I strongly encourage all people of Color and allies to stand up against this. We will not be gaslit into thinking this never happened. Please don’t deny an atrocity when there is ample proof of it. As history shows, it doesn’t work well for the perpetrators. Again, I hope you improve your policies and win our business back, but you really need to take immediate and effective steps to stamp out this discriminatory behavior. All the best.

This happened just a few minutes ago. I waited outside the restaurant for 56 minutes for a host or waiter to come out and seat people. No one came out and tons of people were going in so I decided to walk in and ask if they had a table for one (no reservation) I walked in and the host immediately accosted me (I hadn’t even walked ten steps in) He immediately started yelling at me to go outside and that he was busy without letting me speak.

I thought I’d committed a faux pas but checking the reviews, I see that the majority of the negative reviews are from people of Color so clearly I’m not the only one who has been discriminated against. I’ve traveled to 49 countries and never experienced anything like this. The condescending tone, the derision, this is behavior that no human being should be subjected to. I can’t believe I’m bringing this up given the political climate in the 21st century.

People of Color and allies, we need to boycott this restaurant as they have clearly been discriminating against those “other than” for a long time. We need to let them know this behaviour won’t fly and give our money to other local businesses. Shame on Nurnberger Bratwurst Gloeckl am Dom for tolerating and encouraging this behaviour. Across the world, we’ve proven that humanity is capable of doing better, but this restaurant believes that they get to decide who gets respect based on the Color of their skin.

Please spread the word and speak up if you’ve experienced similar discrimination at...

绝对不推荐这家餐厅,店主和店员们都对亚洲人种族歧视。连付款方式都以皮肤颜色分区,逼我们多出至少7%的服务税。你们要是要支持这种没道德的店主就自己来参试吧。

Came here due to recommendation across various sites, but did not bother to read the bad reviews, which was my mistake.

We came in for breakfast and ordered some coffee and their signature sausages. When we wanted to order a second serving, the male waiters were incredibly rude and dismissing. One of the younger blond male waiter told us to wait, but then proceeds to ignore us and entertain the rest of the german customers, laughing and talking to them right next to our table, while we waited to make our second order. He didn’t even bother to come back to us despite passing by us several times. We didn’t like how it made us feel so we tried to flag another elderly male waiter down but was also ignored.

At this point, we just wanted to make payment and leave as we felt increasing discriminated. We’re visibly and ethnically East Asians, not sure if that makes any difference. Once we managed to flag down the first waitress who served us food, we were forced to tip a minimum of 7% on the credit card terminal as well! Horrible service, and food was normal.

Definitely do not go if you’re not German nor speak any german. Although based on the past reviews, avoid this place completely if you are even visibly Asian/non-German.

Edit: Owner who commented that there is no forced tip, i would like you to review your credit card terminals that forced atleast a 7% tip, or do you have different card terminals for non-german guests? Also, tons of reviews by fellow asian guests here suggest the same racism experienced in your restaurant, so are you going to disregard all of them?

Anyway, definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant, especially by owners who refused to acknowledge all the asian customers experience that has been...
