If you are new to Germany, I definitely recommend you to try their Pork knuckle because the pork skin was crunchy while the meat was tender, juicy with some fat attached. If you ate them together, you would enjoy it a lot. Regarding the customer service, I do agree some of previous reviewers about their inconsistency of hospitality. In my case, I was lucky and served by an excellent waiter. Unfortunately, I did not ask for his name. He did an amazing job and often went over to chat with me to see if everything was ok. However, when I wanted to pay my bill, a bad experience began. When I sought one of waiters/ waitresses for paying my bill (because the one who served with me was busy on serving others), they pointed me to a different person. I had been redirected two times already. I understood they (waiter/waitress) might have some rules that they were only in charged with their appointed area. However, they could at least pass on a message to the one who served me in relation to my request of bill since the waiter who served me was in and out. Based on my observation, internal communication is lacking. Thus, one start is removed from my rating to reflect the current management and its teamwork effort. Nevertheless, this one start reduction is not implied to the one who served me during my meal.

Made reservations for this place and even though we went way earlier, they still gladly accommodated us. Very busy place so it’s best to reserve or come at an off peak hour. Though turnover seems fast as they try to fill up all seats even with multiple groups in one table. My mom and I shared the pork knuckle in deep gravy sauce and it was still a lot. Even the 1/2 portion would still be enough for 3 since it’s HUGE. Delicious sauce and very crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. It was such a good pairing with the coleslaw which we liked. It contrasted the flavor of the pork knuckle, adding a sour and tangy taste to it. I honestly hoped they added more since the knuckle was so big. It also came with a potato that was very interesting in texture and taste. A bit gummy and bouncy and had some meat inside. Doesn’t seem mashed or anything like croquetas. Not sure what to make of it too. We also tried the 6 pieces of sausage with fries. Quite small in size and tasted normal. Our server was very friendly and helpful! He was attending to so many people but was attentive to us the whole time. Nice restaurant to experience Bavarian cuisine!

The waitress in this restaurant provided such a poor service for our desk. I even doubt some of them are racist. Here is my whole experience. At the beginning, when I want to get an English menu, no one respond to my eye contact or sign language, and I have no choice but go to the reception to get an English menu by myself. After a while, when we prepared to order the meal, still no waitress responded to my eye contact or even hand raising. At least three waitresses saw me but they just gave me a smile and walked away. At that time, I naively thought they must be too busy to take care of all customers. However, what happened next make me out of patience. When we finished the meal, we sit at the desk and wait for checking the bill. After so many times of eye contact and raising hands, no waiter or waitress come to me. This embarrassing situation lasted more than 30 minutes!!! Finally, one waiter responded to my hello and said that he is not responsible for my desk. I asked who can check the bill. Then he called the waiter who made the order to come to my desk. So, this restaurant has a restrict rule that only the waitress or waiter who place the order can check the bill for the customer. I know some restaurants operate like that. But the problem is, why so many times waitress passing by and knowing that I need to check the bill but not providing me any positive service? It is so rude to ignoring customers for so long. Whether you believe my word or not, I will never step into that restaurant again and I will tell my friends not to go either.

We hit the Augustiner Klosterwirt as we wanted a traditional Bayerische Bierstube. And we got what we wanted. Is it traditional? It is. Is it turistic? It is. Lederhosen? Plenty. We arrived around 8PM and the place was packed. We waited a few minutes to be seated in the cellar with some other people we didn't know. The service wasn't able to cope with all the guests so we waited around 15 minutes for our drinks and to order our food. That was the major bringdown, but since the service acknowledged us, it was all worth the wait. Beer here is basically alright, but the star of the evening was the food. We ordered the bavarian menu and from soup through the meat platter with potato dumpling and two kinds of cabbage to apflestrudel, everything was done to perfection. Portion was huge and we couldn't finish it and there was no problem to take it home with us. After the maß of beer we also decided to try homemade liqours and as herbal and the nut liquor was great. It was really worth the wait, service was nice, food excellent, but I would recommend come either earlier or later, the main dinner time was little too much.

Lovely German food with awesome Augustiner beer. I loved their Schäufele, and their Kartoffelknödel is the best one I have ever had! I am also looking forward to trying their Schweinehaxe for the next time!!!! The first visit: we were told that our table was booked in 120min. However, since the next customer was coming too early and we had to leave in 60min (yes, the next customer was coming 1 hour earlier haha). That was no one's mistake, but I was not able to eat Apfelküchle for dessert... I wanted! The second visit: the blackboard at the entrance showed "wait here (in German)", but no one was asking me anything for several minutes even though some waiters recognized me. This point can be improved. After having a table, my waitress came and asked me for my next drinks and so on very often. I really liked her service! The third visit: the operation was this time perfect. I change to the five stars now.

Location is good, tucked away from the busy centre while still being nearby if doing touritic activities. The food is decent, though the pork was a bit dry, however it was late dinner so its probably better if had during dinner time. The service is rather mixed, the initial greet was nice enough however the waiter we had was rather impolite and seemingly displeased about something, which is fine, anyone can have a bad night. When trying to ask for a different waiter to settle the bill they simply sent us back to the disgruntled waiter which suggests none of the wait staff realised their colleague was distressed, and so this really brought down the energy of the place. Just gives the impression everyone is just out for themselves, at the cost of the customer. We only went once and would not go again, judging from the reviews this is not the norm but it was disappointing for us.
