Not the best pizza I had in Munich.
Don't get me wrong. It's a good pizza dough, but the ingredients are just average. I was expecting something more, given the reviews. The restaurant is very small, they didn't have free seats outside, and inside it was hot. Not the best experience if we also consider that the service was not 100% (they exchanged an order, and only a few people were there that night).
Again, it's a good restaurant, not the best, though. And my expectations were really high.
EDIT: answering the owners. I'll go point by point. I gave 4 to the service because, as I said, it wasn't perfect, but good. And I think 4 is a great grade. I have given 3 to the pizza because I was expecting something better after you won the award you mentioned (as I already said in the review). I describe my experience: I took a simple “pizza rossa con burrata" that I usually use for comparing different pizzerias; the burrata was tasteless, the tomato sauce was normal, nothing special, and the dough was a bit gummy. So, in my opinion, this is just the description of an average pizza, not among the best I have tried. True, I reviewed another pizzeria right after yours. After trying several pizzerias in Munich, I decided that I wanted to rate them all (I am still in the process because, of course, writing reviews takes time). And I think this is what makes a review a “fair” one. I can only fairly judge after having tried several similar places. And the other one, in my personal taste, is better. Reviews are (fortunately or unfortunately) subjective and depend on so many variables.
Lastly: please consider my review as good feedback for you. As I have written, this is a good restaurant and, maybe, mine was just a rare case that never...
Read moreWhen we went inside the place turned out to be much smaller than we thought, so the waitress seated us outside. The tables outside are quite comfortable, large and clean. The only negative side is that they are located right on the narrow walking road, so every person that walked by is looking at you 😅 But inside the restaurant looks pretty nice and cozy!
The menu is completely ordinary, nothing surprised us, except bottle of water for 6,90€… so the pizzas are 14-20€, drinks 5-10€, deserts 10-15€
It's hard to rate the service since we came just to eat two pizzas so we didn't get much attention, but I looked at the other tables and notice that service was very nice, friendly and welcoming! I really liked the female waitress she was friendly and with a big smile on her face all the time.
About food: I ordered Salami pizza and really liked it! Pizza was with a thin crust and crispy sides. Not too spicy, with a good cheese layer. My boyfriend ordered Peppa Pig pizza (which mean’s prosciutto pizza) and he was amazed. He said that this is the most delicious pizza he has ever eaten and I believe him because for all the time that I know him he always orders the same pizza in any pizzeria!
So if you are going to be near to this place, I advise...
Read moreLast night I had the Calvello’s pizza with burrata, arugula, and truffle — and honestly, it was insane. I keep wondering how they manage to get such top-quality ingredients all the way from Italy, because I haven’t found anything quite like this in Munich until now.
The dough was simply amazing: high crust, just the right crunch, super light and well-fermented. I slept like a baby after eating it — and that says a lot about how good and digestible it was!
The truffle on top was incredibly fragrant, the burrata was creamy and fresh, and the whole experience felt like a real trip back to Italy. Especially thanks to Massimo, the owner — super friendly, welcoming, and genuinely funny. He immediately made us feel at home.
Prices? Very fair, especially considering the high quality of the ingredients and the lovely location in Maxvorstadt.
👉 One of the best pizzas you’ll find in Munich, no doubt. Honestly? It even beats many places back home in Italy.
🇮🇹 Coming from an Italian, that’s...
