SMASH OR PASS - BURGER & BAR — Restaurant in Munich

After craving a good burger for weeks, my partner and I decided to try this restaurant based on its strong reviews and the impression that it leaned more toward a proper restaurant than a casual snack bar.

The atmosphere was pleasant overall. The staff was friendly, and the noise level made it easy enough to chat, which isn’t always the case in busy Munich spots.

We started with two of their “smash” drinks, both fresh and enjoyable. As for the burgers, they looked good, but the experience didn’t fully meet our expectations. The meat was on the drier side, and the toppings, underripe tomatoes and firm avocado slices, didn’t add much to the overall flavor. The bun was fine but not particularly distinctive.

Prices are fair, and it’s a nice place to sit with a drink, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re specifically searching for the best...

Rather Pass

Ordered takeout from Smash or Pass, and honestly, I wish I hadn’t bothered. The burger was a sad mess — more bun than anything else, dripping with oil, and the only thing you could actually taste was the onion. The meat? Practically non-existent. What I got was basically bread, oil, and some pickles pretending to be a burger.

The fries were somehow worse. I was excited for them, but they tasted like they’d been fried, refried, and maybe fried again from last weekend’s leftovers. Rock-hard, greasy, and honestly a dental hazard — I nearly lost a tooth biting into one.

All in all, an oily, joyless meal. Disappointing doesn’t even begin...

Wandered in, tired and hungry, just a man in want of food. Upon sitting down, the waiter promptly arrived, took my order and came back with a free shot. Feeling rejuvenated, I called the waiter back and took another with him. Shortly thereafter, my chicken burger arrived. The sauce. My god, the sauce. Words cannot describe the elation one feels when this caloric masterpiece touches the tastebuds. It filled my empty heart like no lover ever could.
