Napizza, nestled in the heart of Nuremberg, is a charmingly unpretentious establishment that prides itself on honest cuisine. This basic yet inviting restaurant aims to create an authentic Italian dining experience with a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes. During my dinner at Napizza, I began with the Caprese Buffalina—a beautifully composed dish that married the creaminess of buffalo mozzarella with the freshness of ripe tomatoes. The Pizza Buffala Bill & Burratina, generously decorated and bursting with flavor, followed. Although the pizza was delicious, it arrived regrettably cold, a misstep that tempered the experience somewhat. For dessert, I sampled the Tiramisu, presented in a generous portion. However, the taste was somewhat lackluster, lacking the expected boldness from the traditional splash of alcohol. Despite this, the dessert was pleasant enough to round off the meal. A highlight of the evening was the impressive selection of beers, featuring local Italian products that added an authentic touch to the dining experience. This, paired with the consistently friendly and attentive service, created a welcoming atmosphere that stood out. Overall, Napizza offers a compelling blend of traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist. Despite minor inconsistencies, particularly with the temperature of the pizza and the somewhat bland Tiramisu, the overall experience was delightful. The attentive service and high-quality ingredients make Napizza a worthy destination for those seeking an authentic slice of Italy...
Read moreWe came here after a long day of sightseeing in Nuremberg. There were no problems with finding a spot, though we reserved just to be sure. First impression with service was also good, we got the menu quickly and also no problems with ordering. They also paid a lot of attention after we received the pizza taking the empty plates quite quickly and asking if we were good or needed anything more. Why 3/5 then? First of all there were no utensils on our table and grissini that were on others, we thought it would arrive with pizza but unfortunately was never noticed. Secondly we had a feeling that orders are done in a very weird order, meaning the online/to go were done with higher priority. We waited 35-40 minutes for our pizza after ordering, which is very long for a Neapolitan in my opinion. Remember that the restaurant wasn't fully booked, so it's not that problem and we saw a dozen pizza boxes leaving. When it comes to pizza it is a good proper Neapolitan though I had a feeling that they use semolina on the pizza shovel since there were burned bits on the bottom. Apart from that, we made a mistake and didn't ask before if buffalo mozzarella is placed before baking the pizza or added at the end cold and it's the latter option here, of which we are not the biggest fans. It's fine overall, but you might want to know. One day we have to check also the other branch in Fürth, since I believe there is potential here but I need to...
Read moreWe were super excited to try this pizza place given all the amazing ratings (it was 4.7 on Google a couple weeks ago and now it appears to be 4.9 as of today’s date).
The pizza was okay to some extent, but my main feedback is that the the dough was soggy in the middle so you have to eat it with a fork and knife. It was not possible for us to lift the pizza slices with our hands. The crust was light and airy, which was delicious, so it’s a shame that the rest of the pizza was soggy.
The taste of the spinach in the Napoli pizza was also overwhelming as it tasted like boiled spinach placed in large clumps on the pizza (maybe it was frozen?). I thought it would be fresh slices of spinach gently spread across the pizza, but alas it was not. I do enjoy spinach and love a good Saag Paneer, but the taste on the pizza ruined it for me as it was way too bitter.
Perhaps we got an off-batch of pizzas, but the ambience was nice to sit outside and people seemed to be enjoying themselves! Maybe ordering different pizzas on another day would provide...
