Amazing food! I’m still thinking about it 2 months later. My fiancé and I were visiting the castle and Albrecht Dürer's House during our trip and needed to have lunch. After a mini search, Wirtshaus Hutt’n popped up as open and a local favorite that was in walking distance to both places. What we didn’t know was that reservations are typically needed here. One of the managers was kind enough to seat us anyway, while giving us a little history of the restaurant and informing us of the popularity locally. We order the bratwurst variety plate, a large salad, one non-alcoholic beer and local favorite beer (red) that was recommended by the manager. After receiving our food, we quickly learned why this restaurant was so popular! Not only is the service fantastic and hospitable but the food was beyond delicious. The bratwurst is juicy and flavorful combined with fresh horseradish and mustard with a side of potato salad and sauerkraut. The large salad was fresh, crispy, the herb raspberry dressing to help offset the heaviness of the sausages. Wish we could have gone back again before leaving but it was our last day. We heard the pork shoulder is also a favorite. Definitely recommend trying when in the area! 😋

Located near the Albrecht Dürer's House and Kaiserburg in the old town area. The area seemed to having many competing touristy restaurants. This one is tourist friendly too with English menus available online as well (and credit cards accepted). The service was also generally good, there were groups of tourists around when I was there. I had their signature Schäufele which was excellent. The pork is generally tender and juicy with crispy skin. The potato dumplings are huge as well (and I couldn't finish them). Nonetheless, loved the pork. Yum yum yum. The pricing is reasonable as well and you can find quite a variety of German and regional Franconian food on the menu. The interiors are what you expect from a German restaurant as a tourist : cosy wooden furnishing, loved the use of vintage skis for some of the signages too. Nice place to be in the mood and have some beer and pork here.

We turfed up for a beer each but the beer menu was interesting so we had another. After a salad we decided to stay and work our way through the beer list, adding the excellent sausage selection to our eating. A word about our server. She was blonde with tats... and was all over all the outside tables, which were packed. She missed nothing. Though clearly fluent in English, she let me use my limited German and never tried to use English with me as clearly she understood... which I really appreciated. Yes, it gets really busy on a nice day in the tourist season being close to the castle but it's still a locals' pub with a Stammtisch... and great beers, food and service.

After a single bite, I come to realize why many people are always awaiting for their dinner here. Price: it looks a little bit higher than other places, but it turns out that it is mistaken when you get the food. Details are written in the food section. Atmosphere: interior looks so authentic, nice and cozy. Outside terrace is also well organized and wooden tables are well aligned. I can feel I am in real Bayern. Foods: all foods in the pictures were amazingly well cooked and the amount is more than enough. Friends of mine and I were super satisfied ! Overall, the reputation of this restaurant is respectable and they deserve it ! “Must go”

So I think that this place is definitely an awesome place to visit. The food was amazing. The sausages were so delicious. The sourkraut was great. Horse radish the best. The service was very pleasant. It was great to sit outside, but inside was so nice as well. The beer was Awesome and affordable. Then the biggest thing I would say would be the apple fritters absolutely delicious. I would not pass them up even if you are stuffed. I highly recommend you just split it with someone because they are top notch.

I love this place. The service is great the food is amazing. I have been here a few times. I bring my coworkers who have never had Franconian food. They have a few good dishes that are my go to when I come but I have had a few others by now. I rarely give 5 stars but when I do it is warranted in my opinion. This place has earned every one. If you are in town and want a good place to try this is your place come and enjoy you won’t be disappointed.
