Café No. 15 — Restaurant in Potsdam

Unbelievably cute little café! Fitting weather provided you definitely wanna sit in the backyard garden, surrounded by the walls of those beautiful small houses this part of Potsdam consists of. Whereas the crowds on the street only a few meters away are humming and buzzing in their usual (and sometimes annoyingly stepitiuos) ways, here you can escape from all that noise and enjoy the sound of silence. A small chatter from the neighboring table maybe, but everyone coming in here will immediately recognize the tranquil atmosphere and adapt to it at once. The delicate garden furniture and lots of different potted plants everywhere (even in the restrooms!) also add to the very comfy environment. But that's not all: the staff is super nice and the food is superb! We had pasta and grilled vegetables with houmous, fresh self-made bread and salad and both were absolutely brilliant. Or you just wanna enjoy a warm beverage and a cake, as this is a café after all? Can't say anything about that other than that the cake looked very yummy (saw two of them pieces on the neighboring table). Instead we enjoyed an ice cream dessert after lunch and liked it a lot too! The atmosphere alone is worth a visit, but combine that with the super friendly service they provide plus the really good food and you will find absolutely no reason to...

I went here with my family are we were blatantly ignored until I finally asked a waiter if we could actually order food and drinks. He then looked flustered and told us that we'd have to wait at least 30 to 60 minutes because "a table of 14 was arriving soon." How can a café prioritise the order of a table of people who are yet to arrive over a table of 8 who had been waiting patiently?? This is a total failure of management. Furthermore, the café was nowhere near full and upon my pointing this out, he decided to justify the wait by saying that everything was made fresh and that "they're not McDonalds". Well, thanks, Captain Obvious, but at least McDonalds would have served me and made me and my family feel welcome. Maybe it was my foreign accent, though I certainly hope not... Oh, and they only accept cash... in year 2024.. Also, after reading other reviews about how poorly people with kids are treated, I must add that we had 3 young kids with us. Gestern am späten Nachmittag habe ich dort angerufen und für heute Morgen einen Platz für zwei Personen reserviert. Sehr nettes Gespräch was mir für den heutigen Tag Freude aufkommen ließ. So standen wir dann heute Morgen der Bedienung gegenüber und sagten dass wir gestern Abend noch einen Platz für zwei Personen reserviert haben. Leider war keine Reservierung eingetragen und so hatten wir noch Glück gehabt das wir sehr früh da waren. Der zugewiesenen Platz war grundsätzlich nicht schlecht doch die mit Farbspritzern versehende Wand entsprach dann doch mehr dem Ambiente eines eher Szene Lokals. Wir haben zwei normale Frühstück bestellt und bevor das Frühstück kam , kam eine andere Bedienung und brachte uns das Besteck, gleich mit dem Hinweis, wir möchten uns doch das Besteck herunternehmen da die Frühstücksteller sehr groß sind. So kamen auch zeitnah die Frühstücksteller dazu. Was gleich auffällig war, war das der auf dem Teller angerichtete Salat schon mit Joghurtdressing großflächig versehen war. Nicht jeder mag das und normalerweise fragt man den Gast ob er das möchte oder nicht. Dieses brachte meine Frau auch gegenüber der Bedienung zum Ausdruck ebenso fragte meine Frau die Bedienung (mit der Frage ob Sie denn ein wenig Kritik äußern dürfe) wie man denn die auf dem Teller befindlichen Obststücke, noch mit Schale, denn essen soll. Die Antwort der Bedienung war mehr als ernüchternd. „Zum Dressing, ja das hätten Sie auch vorher sagen können, zum Obst, da nimmt Mann das Messer und schneidet die Schale ab wie alle andern auch.“ Das in der Zwischenzeit sich das Dressing auf den Teller ausgebreitet hatte, war jetzt nicht ganz so geschmacklich, sich darauf noch ein Brot mit Marmelade zuzubereiten. Die Kritik kam wohl nicht so gut an, denn im Gegensatz zu den Tischen der anderen Gäste, hat sich die Bedienung sehr viel Zeit gelassen die leeren Teller abzuholen.Fazit: Selbst sachliche Kritische Anregungen scheinen wohl nicht erwünscht, sehr schade. Ein wenig Farbe an der ein oder anderen Stelle wäre hilfreich fürs Auge. Sachliche Kritik sollte man sich gerne anhören und besonders dann wenn es im Café auch so angepriesen wird, das Kritik erwünscht ist . Gerade beim Frühstücken ist mindestens ein kleiner Beiteller nicht schlecht um sein Brot oder Brötchen, anzurichten. Zuletzt sei noch erwähnt das für einen großen Kaffee, 5€schon ein stolzer Preis ist, zumal das kein richtiger guter Barister-Kaffee war.

Wir waren da, haben den Eindruck gewonnen, aber wir werden auch nicht mehr wiederkommen und für eine Weiterempfehlung an Freunden sehen wir keinen Anlass. Schade dass wir es so erlebt haben aber vielleicht ist ja der Zulauf aufgrund der Innenstadtlage zu groß, so dass man sich nicht wirklich um den guten Service bemühen muss.
