Sushi Bar & Asian Cuisine — Restaurant in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Thanks to previous reviewers, we went in with enough cash, but it is still surprising they don’t take any credit cards given that this beautiful town thrives on tourism. They do have a sign saying they only take cash in German (as the employee pointed at) but tourists, including us, wouldn’t be able to read that. Food was okay- made me chuckle when I saw an asparagus sushi. Nothing authentic but it’s what you expect from an Asian-fusion place. If I were to rate solely on food quality, I’d have given 2 or 3 stars. What bothered us was their customer service. Yes, our kids definitely eat messy and just because they’re little, they shouldn’t be forgiven on all grounds. However, coming over to wipe the table (just around my son’s area) WHILE we’re still eating, and taking his chair away to the back to clean (and NEVER bringing it back) is a bit extreme. I’m sure children in general are not the most cost effective clientele for restaurants but part of running a business is being a people person. I recently visited this restaurant with high expectations, as the presentation of the dishes looked incredible. The service was genuinely excellent—staff members were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. However, the food didn’t quite live up to its appearance. While beautifully plated, the flavors fell short and lacked the taste we were hoping for. Additionally, there was an unexpected inconvenience with payment. We weren’t informed in advance, nor was it mentioned on the menu, that they only accepted cash. This left us scrambling at the end of the meal to sort out payment, which was not ideal. The two start for the food goes to summer rolls and the mochi ice.

Nice spot with a wide variety of Asian dishes and a bilingual menu, which was really helpful. We ordered the Thai curry with duck, avocado salad, and beef pho, everything tasted good and was nicely presented. The service was friendly and efficient, and while the flavors were enjoyable, they leaned more toward a general fusion style than traditional or authentic Asian cuisine.
