The fast food chain in Japan called Pepper lunch are the masters of cooking your steak on a stone. Is very simple, you enter the shop that lacks tables, all it is, is a long round bar stand where the cooks are in the middle, they don't even handle money, as you enter the shop, you proceed to a self-serve paying machine by pressing a button for the items you wish to eat based on small pictures and short descriptions, you select your food and drinks, pay, upon seating, handle your ticket to one of the attendants and the experience begins, 5 minutes or less, you are cooking your (less than equivalent $15.00 USD) full of flavor cut of meat, they don't have a lot of varieties, but enough for you to get your steak fix and even better, a desire to return because steaks are not only good, but very affordable to be in Japan which that country is very similar to Germany, everything beef, is quite expensive and for the most part, not even truly delicious.
Abacco's in particular to be what it looks like, in the mid higher end, or at least is what their prices push it to be, be its location, or service, is a no no for the ones that understand not just beef, or steaks, but cuts and fat ratio. I wouldn't go back to this place at all, not even for the steaks, but isn't steaks what this place is all about, unless you are the type of person that a piece of meat for you, makes the cut as status of eating steak just for the sake of eating steak. Not this place. Even the fries, yes, unlimited, but probably have a humongous pot of fries ready to be served, by the time you get them, they aren't even hot anymore, if you appreciate good steaks and is what you are looking for, go somewhere else. The service is great and the location is prime, yet, that's what you are paying at this place, not for their food, unless you appreciate insipid food. Kudos to the staff, the cohesion in the...
Read moreI had a very bad experience there. I had already reserved a table online and got a confirmation email, 2 different reminder emails but when i showed up my reservation wasnt in the system. What was even more outraging was the lady’s response. She told me well it is not in the system (after already seeing the confirmation email). It’s probably a technical issue and she continued to make it seem like its my problem. She told me to wait or leave. The place was full, there was already a line waiting outside. And when I tried understanding how long i would need to wait she was like: i dont know i cant make people disappear. So i told her its not my problem, they have a faulty system, she needs to find a solution, she told me to wait or leave. I told her i need to talk to her supervisor if she cant handle it and she then decided to tell me how unfriendly i am!! That “I” have a problem and that she is trying to help.. she was trying to pin the whole thing as my problem not the restaurant’s!!! I ended up waiting for another half an hour while other people arrived and got seated and when i asked why they are getting tables and i am not, I was told because they have “reservations”. After half an hour of waiting i got a table and the food was honestly good but I was already pissed off at that point. I understand that technical issues can happen anywhere, I wouldn’t mind accommodating to the inconvenience if I was treated in a good way, but being told to simply wait indefinitely or leave and being lectured about unfriendliness and making the whole thing as if its my mistake, that was really unacceptable. I would think twice before I go eat...
Read moreI've eaten here many, many, times in the last several years, but I have never experienced service so poor.
I arrived for my reservation at 17:00, and was brought to my table. I was waiting for a friend to arrive, and I was never asked, in the 15 minutes I waited, if I would like something to drink. My friend arrived and sat down with me, and we still had non-existent service for the next 15 minutes, (mind you, I have now been there for half an hour). At this point I was trying to get the attention of anyone from the Staff of the restaurant. I finally got someone to notice me, and she said she would get someone to serve us... 10 minutes later, she came back to take our order.
Please keep in mind that this was at 17:45, or 18:00 when the Staff decided to take our drink order.
The restaurant was not busy at all, as the lunch rush was long over, and the dinner rush was hours away from starting.
After our meal, my friend ordered a beer and some fries with ketchup and mayonnaise. 20 mins passed, and I asked the Staff if he was going to receive his order. It was brought shortly afterward.
Then it was time to pay, and the Staff was ready/willing to serve us immediately. I was shocked to see that we were charged 1.80€ for ketchup and mayonnaise, 0.90€ each. For a restaurant that receives well over 120€, (minimum), from me everytime I am there, there should be embarrassment for such penny pinching.
With all the other Steakhouses in Stuttgart, and the surrounding area, I see no reason to continue to give my hard-earned money to Abacco's.
Longstanding...
