Oggi — Restaurant in Stuttgart

A colleague from Egypt told me to check this place out and boy am I glad that I did. A German colleague called and made a reservation for us. We were provided with a German and English menu. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive to our group of 8, which can sometimes be a challenge. We enjoyed drinks from their full bar, wine along with quite a few plates from their menu. We passed plates so that we could all indulge and experience more of the menu during our brief business trip. I am from Charleston, South Carolina (hence the signature), where we have GREAT FRESH SEAFOOD. This place exceeded my expectations as their fish dish was very good and I actually finished my meal, which I rarely do. Further, I really enjoyed the Italian and the wine that our wait staff paired with it. It was an enjoyable evening sitting outside not far from Alexanderplatz, which was buzzing with people, with enjoyable food and drink. I am surprised to see a a 3.8 average as I would definitely give this place a 4.5. I took off a .5 stars as getting the check took quite some time.

Our first impression of the restaurant was really disappointing, especially since it was my birthday dinner. When we first arrived, we waited at the entrance for about five minutes, but no one came to greet us. We finally went inside to let someone know we had arrived, only to be told by one of the staff members that we should go back outside and wait there. Five minutes later, he came out and asked for our name and reservation. After that, he informed us that there were no available seats because the previous guests hadn’t paid and left yet. We ended up waiting another ten minutes before a different staff member finally came to seat us. The whole experience was frustrating and really took the joy out of what was supposed to be a special night. As for the food, it was average and aligned with the price point. I had the Pizza Bufalina and Insalata Caprese, and while the flavors were decent, there was nothing remarkable about the dishes. This restaurant exceeded my expectations when it came to both the food and drinks. Every dish was packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with a lot of attention to detail. The drinks were equally impressive, complementing the food perfectly. What truly stood out was the service—the waiters were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home, which added a personal touch to the entire dining experience.

The only area where I think there’s room for improvement is the ambiance. For the price point, I expected the atmosphere to feel a bit more upscale and polished. While the design is nice, it doesn't quite live up to the premium feel of the menu and prices. A slightly more refined setting would really elevate the experience to the next level.
