My favourite restaurant in Stuttgart. Been here countless times. But it has many poor reviews here, so am I getting something wrong? Well, if you just want to eat a pizza, don't come here. They do though have pizza (for those who consider it the pinnacle of Italian cuisine). This is restaurant is about Italian fine cuisine. Especially the varieties of fresh fish, fantastic. If you want buckets full of food (yes, there are plenty of obese people in Stuttgart) don't come here. This is for gourmets not gourmands. If you want the waiter to be your best friend (US style, 'have a nice day, you're welcome, blah, blah) don't come here. The waiters are professionals, so few words, low profile, simply efficient. If you want a 'bargain' don't come here. But do expect, for the not unreasonable prices, linen table cloths, quality glassware, cutlery, etc, quality olive oil and vinegar on the table, and delicious, limitless, fresh crusty bread. And should you find something wrong, discuss it politely with the boss. I once had a slightly smaller than usual Dover Sole. I mentioned this and received an apology and a complimentary glass of good Grappa. My suspicion is that many of the terrible reviews here, are from people who simply should not visit this level...

This was my favorite of all dining experiences since being in Stuttgart. The atmosphere was very nice, with white tablecloths and cloth napkins, which is expected at the price point. The menu available was very well put together and the meal itself was simply divine. The wine selection was extensive. The staff were excellent. I can honestly say that I never saw the bottom of my glass. There was someone on hand to keep it filled with wine. This is by far the best restuarant that I have dined in. I hope to...

Zu seinem 76.Geburtstag hatte mein Vatereinen Tisch im Restaurant da Franco in Stuttgart bestellt. Schon der Empfang war nicht besonders freundlich. Ein mumienhafter Herr kam an unseren Tisch, um die Bestellung aufzunehmen. Während des Bestellvorgsngs begann er zu protestieren. Da seine Deutschkenntnisse schlecht waren , er stark nuschelte und sehr leise sprach, begriffen wir erst nach einer Weile, dass er sich weigerte, unsere Bestellung aufzunehmen, da wir offenbar nicht teuer genug geordert hatten.( wir hatten Aperitif, eine Vorspeise, Wein und drei Hauptspeisen bestellt). Die Herbeigerufene Servicekraft, wahrscheinlich die Tochter des Besitzers erklärte uns, das sei ganz richtig, und auf unsere irritierte Nachfrage, was das für eine eigenartige Regel sei- nirgends stand vermerkt, man dürfe nicht das bestellen, was man wolle- gab sie uns zu verstehen, das sei eben ein gehobenes italienisches Restaurant, das wisse man, das sei so. Nun sind wir alles andere als provinzielle Idioten, aber das war uns neu. Meine Nachfrage, ob ich das richtig verstünde, dass sie sich weigere, und zu bedienten, bejahte sie, und als ich nachfragte, weshalb das bei der Reservierung nicht angegeben worden sei, behauptete sie, wir hätten gar nicht reserviert, was schlicht die Unwahrheit war. Im Endeffekt verwies man uns ausgesprochen unhöflich des Lokals- weil wir offenbar einen willkürlich festgelegten und noch dazu heimlichen Mindestbestellwert unterschritten hatten. Ich hoffe, dass auch andere Besucher dieses Lokal in Zukunft meiden werden, wenn sie sich eine...
