Elinaki Mezedopolion Ulm — Restaurant in Ulm

I will never come here again, the place with the most utterly unbelievable service I booked the table, and got the confirmation, but the waitress with very dark brown hair and Transparent-framed glasses, in a white dress with blue scattered floral patterns, told us with the worst attitude that their system doesn’t have it and she can’t do any magic and make it happen. I was like: excuse me??? As a service staff she should have already lost her job with this mean attitude but not in this freaking restaurant.

After that they offered to wait a little and see what happens. After another 20min of waiting nobody came and after asking directly what is going on they said in a dismissive tone that “they’re “sorry” and “it happens”” whether we would like to order drinks already. This type of dismissive uninterested attitude is beyond me in a restaurant which gets 30-40€/person. Needless to say leaving this place immediately after was one of the better ideas this day.

Last but not the least, it didn’t happen the first time, if you as a foodservice industry never pay attention to your service, you will definitely go out of business, And I’m looking forward...

First thing first. The music here always slaps. I have never not come here and practically wanted to get up and start shaking my booty as soon as I sat down. It’s 90s R&B and modern pop. So nice and it’s the perfect volume. We’re not screaming over your meal to talk to your friend.

Next. The service. All of the waitresses and waiters here are very professional, very kind and on the ball. Very unlike other German restaurants, but we won’t go there. Great customer service. And this is coming from an American.

Now for the Main course. The food here is so above par. I cannot even. It doesn’t matter what I get, what I share with a friend, what I reached my fork over into some strangers plate, everything is amazing. The octopus is by far above and beyond some of the best octopus I’ve had in my entire life

You can get a 500 mL bottle of wine for €9.90–all Greek, all the time.

I don’t even know what to recommend because I’m overwhelmed with how good everything is so, there...

Tolle Erfahrung wenngleich ich mir erhoffte, hier auf gleichen zu treffen die die griechische Gastlichkeit leben. So war es aber nicht und man trifft hier auf ein junges weibliches Team im Service welche nett und aufmerksam ist, keinerlei Grund zu meckern!

Als „Wahlgrieche“ bin ich jemand der die Latte schon sehr hoch setzt, wenn es um griechisches Essen und Restaurants geht.

Wie ich schon sagte, fehlte mir hier der griechische Vibe. Niemand spricht griechisch noch ist Grieche, so vermute ich, und so fehlt mir persönlich schon etwas bei einem Besucht. Dazu ist der Laden hipp und modern, mag ich, aber nicht unbedingt beim Griechen. Natürlich gibt es in meiner Wahlheimat Athen auch unzählige moderne und hippe Tavernas, aber da kommt immer noch etwas authentisches mit, das hier fehlte.

Wie ich schon schrieb, ist das mein persönliches - hoher - Anspruch welchen ich keinenfalls als Gradmesser nehmen kann, dennoch wollte ich dies kundtun.

Das Essen war super! Das Tzatziki wohl das beste welches ich außerhalb Griechenlands essen durfte, top! Fava ebenfalls sehr schmackhaft. Tirokafteri lecker, aber nicht so wie man es kennt, leider zu cremig. Das Ntakos war lecker jedoch gehört, so wie ich es weiß und kenne, keine Gurke hinein. Das störte mich leider - meiner Begleitung schmeckte es aber hervorragend.

Souvlaki lecker jedoch ohne jegliche Beilagen. Gewohnt bin ich es, dass dort wenigstens Pommes dazu kommen. Aber stand auch so auf der Karte, demnach fehlte nichts.

Sardinenfilets lecker, angeboten in einer Olivenöl-Zitronensauce bei mir aber leider der Zitronengeschmack fehlte. Lecker waren sie dennoch.

Leider waren jedoch die Portionen recht klein und zu zweit schnell „inhaliert“. Für mich passte da das Preis-/Portionsgrößenverhältnis nicht wirklich.

Leider gibt es Ouzo nur als 4cl „Shot“, immerhin mit Eis, aber keine 200cl Flaschen mit Eis oder Wasser. Schade. Als ich danach fragte, wurde ich mit großen Augen angeschaut und gefragt ob ich wirklich eine ganze Flasche Ouzo haben möchte. Gemeint war die Literflasche, von der üblichen 200cl-Variante wusste man hier nichts.

Alles in allem ein Besuch bei dem man kulinarisch auf seine Kosten kam, jedoch nicht was die Größe der Portionen betraf oder das sonst so typische griechische Flair. Mir dann leider zu hipp…
