Sorry in advance for the long review but I wanted to give a useful review for people familiar with Mexican cuisine and those not. As a Mexican American with lots of experience with both Mexican and Tex-Mex food I think I have a bit of experience to offer.
My wife and I ordered 2 appetizers and a main course each. That was a mistake since the appetizers and the main courses were rather large and we couldn't even get close to finishing the main courses. That of course is my fault for ordering the second appetizer, but I honestly didn't expect such huge main dishes. The tostada was large and I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. The mixed appetizer plate came with a generous portion of chips and 3 dips which were all tasty. The cheese poppers were surprisingly tasty as were the flautas. Overall, the appetizers were quite good and not expensive. The main courses were the Quesada bistek and the enchiladas rojas. I understand that it is difficult to get the right ingredients here in Germany but neither of these dishes tasted particularly Mexican. They were tasty in their own way but not in a Mexican way. The Quesada was especially huge and quite spicy with well prepared meat and fresh veggies. The enchiladas rojos were also tasty but not really Mexican. The tortillas used were flour instead of the usual corn but overall I'd say they were good but again not really Mexican. Both main dishes came with fried potatoes, again not very Mexican but very tasty and generous amounts. The Margaritas were also pretty tasty if a little on the sour side but better than most I've had in Germany.
Overall I'd say if you are looking for authentic Mexican this is not the place for you but if you are ok with Mexican-ish food it's worth a try. And don't forget to try...
Read moreJust calling something Mexican, does not automatically become Mexican. Nobody at the restaurant knows how a particular dish is originally supposed to be made. I understand adapting food for European / German taste buds but you don't butcher the entire cuisine in the process. They used the same chicken and sauce (it would be blasphemy to call it salsa or anything remotely Mexican) in 4 very different dishes. The service was off putting, we had to ask for the plates our selves and even then there was one less. The hygiene was not acceptable there were insects coming out of the salad bowl, dead insects all over the menus.
