Its Saturday night, and with my son out at work and I couldn’t be bothered to cook, I thought that I would treat myself to a decent takeaway. I don’t really like food to be delivered as you do not know what happens to it when it leaves the shop kitchen, and so I visited the shop myself.
On entering you feel quite welcome, and the shop gives the impression of being in a beach hut somewhere exotic. I was greeted by a very friendly server who asked how I was, and gave me time to look at the board. There are some interesting combinations available, but I plumped for the “Proper Gadgie Burger” and a side order of mozzarella sticks. There is some seating to the side of the counter, and so I waited for my order to be ready. My order took eight minutes, and after a friendly “thankyou” and “goodbye” from the server, I made my way home to enjoy this gourmet burger.
The burger is very well wrapped, and so when I opened the burger package the food was piping hot. The burger is wrapped in greaseproof paper and then silver foil is wrapped over it. I could tell that I was in for a treat as the Proper Gadgie Burger really had some weight to it. This particular burger has two really thick, top quality steak burgers, that did not envelope you in grease when opening the wrappings like the local Dope Burger shop. The burgers were cooked to perfection, very tender and very juicy. Also in the burger was maple cured bacon, fresh lettuce and onion, as well as the “Special Gadgie Sauce”. All this was served in a very nice premium brioche bun. The mozzarella sticks were pretty standard fayre.
After eating the food I felt full and happy, unlike burgers from large fast food chains. The total price of my meal was £9.00, and to be honest, I thought that this represented excellent value for what I would describe as a premium product. I will certainly be purchasing my food...
Read moreWhat an absolute joke,I read the reviews for Gadgie, and as a first time customer i thought i would love to try them, but the DELIVERY was closed at 9.30pm!!! on a Friday night, and they close at 10pm, these people should not be in the fast food business, yes maybe a Sunday that is acceptable, but NOT on a FRIDAY night in HULL. What a shame,I went elsewhere instead, doesn;t matter how good your food is if your cut off time is 9.30pm for deliveries, somebody seriously needs to take a basic business course as customer service is paramount. Went to GODFATHER near Willerby instead, open until midnight. I really can't believe thay stop delivering at Gadgie at 9.30pm,a total joke, they obviously know nothing about business, maybe their burgers are excellent but i'm afraid i will never know,as I went...
Read moreReally disappointing service and food. When we walked in, nobody would take our order and one member of staff was actively ignoring us and saying to her co-worker "go tell them I'm busy" despite the fact she was right round the doorway. The burgers were flavourless, had soggy bacon in them and were literally dripping with grease, and the pizza fries were topped with a really bland, wet marinara as well as some really poor quality meat and cheese. We could barely make a dent in the chips and only managed half a burger each (and that's only because we were so hungry). Definitely wouldn't recommend going here, still...
