I don't know if it was the enchiladas or the moon but we had the best night of our vacation at this charming, exceptional little hideaway. We showed up as a large group of 7 unannounced, late in the evening, during the lifting of coronavirus restrictions. Instead of sending us away, the enthusiastic staff rounded up spare tables and chairs and set us up across the street. Other patrons even pitched in to make space. It quickly became a party with superb margaritas and friendly banter with the staff. Our years in Europe have tamped down our expectations for authentic Latin American flavors. But this place simply blew us away. Each dish was brought as it was ready and not one disappointed. What started out as 7 separate orders became one big family meal. It all looked and tasted homemade. We even ordered a second set of dinners to go so we would have them the next day. As seasoned travelers, it has been our experience that the best places are also usually the most unexpected. Mestiza is one of these...
Read moreI give them 5 because the service was great and it’s the best you can find in Germany! So I’m Honduran (from Central American) and have lived in Mexico and South America and shared room with south Americans so I KNOW my food. -The enchiladas (in Mexico called tostadas) were amazing! In Honduras we eat enchiladas like this 👌🏼 -The filled tostones also good. Meat is tasty, good seasoned, felt like home. Guacamole also was TOP! -The nachos had a little meat but I asked for more and they were kind enough to add more meat 👌🏼so can’t complain. -The tacos were also good! It’s the best you find in Germany. Don’t compare them to tacos in mexico because it’s never comparable but it’s the best you can get in Germany and price is reasonable for the portion (considering how hard is to get everything). -Arepas: I didn’t tried them but my Colombian friend said they were okayish. Need improvement but everything else was goood.

Read moreWe got seated as soon as possible and the waitress was very kind.
She took our drink and food order.
She got the drink order wrong and when we asked to change it they took ages to simply deliver us one drink.
When we finally received our food it was very cold, we complained and they took the food back. We received it 5 minutes later but they only put the food in the microwave as we could feel the plate was warm and the limes on the side where also warm. As a result of microwaving the food, the tortillas were soggy.
Although the yuca fritas were delicious and the amount of meat you got with the tacos was a lot.
I don’t blame the waitresses for the bad service, they were clearly very overworked and the restaurant was clearly understaffed.
The waitresses were very kind and clearly trying their best.
Would be happy to come here again if the food and service quality would improve, as the atmosphere...
