Creperie "Le Bistro 38" / Inh. Kai Brand — Restaurant in Wernigerode

I chose a restaurant out of the pedestrian old city center to avoid tourist trap. Being French, that "Crêperie", attracted me. I entered and was nicely greeted by the waitress. As I am not speaking German, I was happy to find out that she speaks good english. The restaurant room is nice, simply decorated and with rustic furniture. 👍

for the atmosphere, some French radio is playing, you like it or not, I was happy with some parts (nostalgia from when I lived in France), but for others, it was not really nice. well...🤷

For the food, I ordered the nb 9: crepe "Viande et Champignons". When the crepe arrived, I was first disappointed by the presentation, not really appealing, crepe simply folded twice, a single spoon of salad besides. 👎

let's try it: as per appearances, the dough used is nothing like the dough used for savory crepes in France, it is more like the dough used for dessert crepes. The filling, mixture of ground meat, slices mushrooms, tomato sauce and cheese is rather basic, not really tasty, the filling qty is too much and too wet. the crepe is definitely not matching the 13.40€ asked price, it may be Ok for half that price.👎👎👎

After finishing my crepe, I am full though I did not enjoy it. Sadly.😥

oh, and no water served on the table, when I asked for water, I got served a 2.60 € , 25cl bottle... that's over 10€/L 😵‍💫

bottom line, I would not recommend for this...

I was coming in expecting crepes but all I got is a döner dough with a liquidy mash inside. The "crepe" comes folded in two and in a decently big size, but the dough doesn't hold together the ingredients : when you cut it everything falls apart.

The service was slow as well, it took about 15 minutes after we were sat to take our orders, and then almost 45 minutes for the meals to arrive.

Although the place is pretty neat, there's a nice ambience (whether it be inside or outside) and the terrace is its own little space that doesn't mix with the street.

Wir sind der Creperie aus Zufall in die Arme gelaufen und sind spontan eingekehrt. In dem Ambiente fühlten wir uns direkt irgendwie zu Hause.

Die farblichen Abstimmungen mit dem hellen Boden, dem dunklen Inventar, den passenden Wandfarben und den Lampen, welche wahrscheinlich selbst erstellt wurden, einfach top.

Die Lage an der Ecke des Gebäudes ist auch stark, es gibt die ganze Zeit interessantes zu sehen. Man kommt sich vor als würde man in einer Filmkulisse zu Gast sein, aus irgendeinem französischen Film und die Innenstadt von Wernigerode, mit ihrme Charme, rundet das alles einfach ab.

Steffie ist so was von freundlich, aufgeschlossen und dazu auch unterhaltsam. Ein super Service, nicht zu viel und nicht zu wenig Gespräche und ein paar kleine Geschichten am Tisch. Einfach super.

Wir hatten an dem Tag noch ein Abendbuffet in unserem Hotel gebucht und wir dachten uns gegen 14 Uhr, dass dann jeweils ein Mozzarella Baguette bis zum Abend ausreichen wird, die Größe von 35 CM haben wir auch draußen gelesen und dachten uns das wird schon nicht so wuchtig sein.

Die Getränke wurden natürlich zuerst gebracht und es gibt dort originale Coke, für uns ein Muss in der Gastronomie, und frisch gezapftes Hasseröder.

Unsere frisch gemachten Baguettes, die 35 CM wurden mindestens eingehalten, kamen, sie rochen schon fantastisch und schon der erste Biss, Mozzarella Baguette mit Knoblauchsauce, überzeugte uns direkt. Diese warmen Baguettes mit den frischen Zutaten und dieser Sauce, einfach ein Traum. Kompliment an Kai!
