Würzburger Ratskeller — Restaurant in Würzburg

The food was ok, nothing special, but the bill was not really. There was an extra "tip" on the bill, for the amount of €3,80. According to the waittress it was for the extra work they have because of Covid-19, like cleaning etc. But it was not stated anywhere. She said it was very common in Germany. We did encounter it once more, but that was only €1,- per person and clearly stated before you sit down at a table. Also the amount seemed a bit strange to us. Especially as it rounded the bill to exactly €40,- So that meant the original bill would be €36,20. She gave us then a check with the tax numbers, so we could somehow deduct it from taxes, she said. How do you deduct a "tip" from taxes? It seems all nonsense to us. Hence the low rating and for sure never will be back here. We know again why we normally avoid central places. No incentive to be customer friendly or make great food, as there are always customers and every time new ones. We visited the place about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, the main course came before the starter. When we pointed it out, the main course disappeared back into the kitchen with an irritated "Oh,..." but without an apology and we were served the starter. However, the starter was not complete. We also had to ask for the cutlery. Well... cutlery and missing dishes were delivered. Again, without a word of apology for the inconvenience. And when we were done with the starter, the main course was put on the table within a few minutes. As you can guess, it was the main course that had previously been stowed away in the kitchen and had cooled in the meantime. We observed the same confusion (no cutlery and cold main course) at the other tables. Simply a pity. You know... the ambience could really be something, if the music was appropriate for the locality and the waiters didn't loudly stir their cutlery supplies, that apparently only belated make it...

Came here for a private party (we were not the ones with the reservation, just guests, so I don't know how much everything costs). It was admittedly a large group, but the amount of time between meal courses was a little long, and by the time we were waiting for dessert to show up, all of the younger kids were getting super restless and we were ready to just leave. The food was decent, but nothing to write home about. It was also difficult to get the waiters attention. Not sure why the service was so slow, because the rest of the restaurant was completely empty. The room we were in had some pretty stained glass, but the acoustics were not great for how many...
