Smoke 'n' Barrel — Restaurant in Accra

Smoke 'n' Barrel is indeed the avenue for both new and old expats. This doesn't mean that locals aren't welcome either as they are.

I bumped into several friends from as far back as high school in a day than anywhere else I have been in Accra. Thus, people I haven't seen over 10 years were all over at the restaurant. I saw more friends also dropping by to get takeouts from there.

Clearly, this restaurant is doing a lot of things right.

The restaurant is mostly outdoorsy but stylish, modern and welcoming. The menus are indeed large albeit food and drinks are moderately priced.

The waiters and waitresses aim to please. Clearly, the manager doesn't cut corners when it comes to training their staff albeit one of the bar attendants who was proving difficult was quickly intercepted by a female staff. I am inclined to say the manager is doing a good job empowering the female staff.

This hub has since become one of my go-to-places in Accra and hence intend to meet friends, family and out of town business clients there.

Great in/outdoor spot with a comfortable feel. A rather diverse crowd. Obviously an ex-pat favorite. Makes sense as it's in the neighborhood of so many Embassy's. Sports on big screens, DJ music and a pretty well MC'd Karaoke show on Friday nights. Best draft beer, I've found in Accra so far. The food was outstanding. The big burger was perfect. Pros: Decent pizza and wings. Cons: Very hard to place an order via phone. It is very rare when someone answers. When the card machine is not working they expect you to trapeze around the area to look for an atm which is inconvenient and not safe.
