First things first... I'm a tourist... so the first impression you get is you're not welcome. This is exactly what you want! You have probably found a local gem that will give you great value for money. Also, it's not that you weren't welcome... they just aren't trained in the tourist trap dance of "flashy locale", "smooth words", and "accommodating menu " all designed to nurse the euros from tourists who buy into area hype. This place has great reviews for a reason. My group and I ate at the plaka equivalent the night before... the quality and quantity of food, drink and appreciation you get from this place would put the plaka tourist trap to shame. We quite literally paid twice as much for half the quality AND quantity AND we always felt like we were putting them out just for the privilege of dining there. When it came time to pay the bill this place almost refused to take the tip we wanted to leave, while the plaka trap pushed for more. Could this place be a little more attentive to tourist needs from the outset... sure... but give me an honest local gem like this over any smooth talking tourist trap. Thanks for a great night guys. Read moreMust go here! It's a local neighborhood restaurant tucked off the main street with a nice terrace on a pedestrian street. The waitstaff were so lovely, and the food was delicious with large portions and cheap. We went here twice during our stay at an AirBnb down the road.
The first time we ordered a delicious Greek salad (enormous portion for about 5 Euros), Souvlaki dish (amazing) and a Gyro plate (with chicken), 2 Greek beers (that were served with large frozen glasses), and of course a large pitcher of water automatically as soon as we sat down (many of the touristy places didn't do this or made you pay for it, but here they put it on the table as soon as you sat down before even looking at the menu). Extra pita bread was also automatically provided (even though the dishes already came with pita).
They were literally so genuine and nice.
The second time we went we weren't as hungry, so each of us just got a gyro and a beer. Probably one of the best gyros I had in Greece. The tzatziki sauce was homemade (like everything on the menu) and slightly spicy, which was a nice touch.
Really enjoyed the...
Read moreOur first meal after a long flight and a long cab ride to our Airbnb. Found this place in our neighborhood just minutes away. It was an amazing first meal. My wife and my oldest son ordered the pork gyro, my younger son ordered the chicken souvlaki. Daughter ordered the chicken salad. The gyros were amazing, each bite of the protein had a distinct grill taste with the perfect combination of yogurt sauce and crunch from the French fries. My son ate the entire thing in less than 5 minutes and asking for more. I ordered the grilled plate for 2 just for myself, this is a must. Comes with sausages, kebab, chicken, pork belly and pork chops. The grill meat were amazing, full of flavor with each bite. And for the price, you can’t beat it. I would def come back here. The portions were big and...
