I might have had my expectations too high, but unfortunately I ended up being quite disappointed about this place. I asked about the options they have for hand brew, the waiter didn't know and went back to ask. I asked her if I could go to the bar and ask myself about it, to which she answered that I can't do it and she'll do it instead. When she came back she told me they have a Rwanda. That was the only information she was able to provide, no details about the coffee, variety, type of processing, etc. It was just a Rwanda, and that was the only option they had. The coffee was not bad, but it was incredibly basic. It's not a bad coffee shop by all means, but in terms of specialty coffee I believe the standard should be very high, and this place doesn't manage to stand out whatsoever. It's a basic, average coffee shop, and in my opinion specialty coffee shouldn't settle for average. However, this is a very subjective experience, as I'm basing it off only on one visit. They might sell some banger coffees, who knows. But this experience just didn't do it for me. I'd gladly change my review if things will go differently in the future. But for now, 2.5 is the most I can give this place. If you don't care much about coffee, I'm sure you can have a great experience here. But if you are expecting a high standard, I'm afraid I can not recommend...
Read moreThe dumbest and most illogical place in Athens. They don’t tell you in advance, but they charge you more for the indoors cups vs the takeaway cups. Or at least that is the explanation they offered us when, after purchasing 2 coffees, we sat on one of the many empty tables available this morning. The waitress came, and rudely told us to leave and sit in front of the store on other benches, because we had takeaway cups, otherwise she said “we would have to pour the drinks to the indoors mugs and that’s an extra cost”. How dumb can this possibly be? Also, if this is true, why is this not communicated clearly during the purchase of the coffee? It doesn’t make sense that outdoors cups cost less than indoors, it really goes against any logical principle, and the manners of the waitress displayed poor intelligence, lack of acumen and poor communication, all elements that disqualify her and make her unsuitable...
Read moreAnana Caffe has a pleasant atmosphere and serves good coffee, making it a potentially nice spot in Athens. However, my recent visit was marred by a confusing and poorly enforced smoking policy. Despite a no-smoking sign clearly visible above our table in the yard area, people were openly smoking. When I inquired about this discrepancy, the waitress couldn't provide a clear answer, vaguely suggesting the signs belonged to an adjacent, closed bar. While she promised to relay my concerns to management, the experience was disappointing. The misleading signage and lack of a clear smoking policy created an uncomfortable environment, especially for non-smokers expecting a smoke-free area. I hope the management addresses this issue to improve the overall experience for all patrons. Until then, I'd recommend caution to those seeking a truly smoke-free dining...
