This was the most amazing place in Athens, Greece! I am from Manhattan (New York City). I met two bartenders and a waiter all named Banos there, plus I met other bartenders and the manager and the owner. They all spoke excellent English! They were all soooo kind and so friendly!! I went there every night for three nights in a row and had an excellent time each night!! I highly recommend this restaurant/bar! They have won European and even World contests for the best pizza (and the best bar)!!! But the most interesting thing to me was that they make some of their own liquors and drinks in a ‘lab’ downstairs. They make a vermouth, which is a red, sweet vermouth that is absolutely delicious! (not like the white dry vermouths in America.) They perfect their own Negroni’s down there too! And they have something called Masticha which was also a delicious sweet liquor. And of course they have ouzo!! Lol! Aside from the great food and drinks, it was just a fun, enjoyable time. Even customers who are alone are made to feel so welcome there!! Other nearby restaurants there do not cater to their customers like Odori does. I am familiar with many wonderful restaurants in Manhattan, but I highly...
Read moreThis was a damn fine pizza.
I do prefer a little bit of a stiffer crust, but for what this was, it was incredible.
The dough was nice and light, good flavour, not overbearing.
I had the San Daniele - broken down as follows;
The sauce was very fine, tasted great, and was portioned in just the right amount. Not messy, but not dry.
The arugula was good and not wilted or dirty tasting like at most places and was actually a welcome addition to the pizza rather than something you pick off.
The prosciutto. Oh goodness, the prosciutto. Super velvety, sliced just the right thickness, and lots of it. These folks know to put it on the pizza after it has been cooked, to preserve the structure and taste. Unbelievable.
The Parmesan flakes were also very wonderful, and generously scattered.
All of this for a very fair price, which is massively appreciated.
All in all, one of the better pizzas I’ve had in Europe.
I thank the team and the kitchen for a fantastic meal, and suggest anyone looking for pizza pay a...
Read moreWe don't leave a lot of reviews, but feel we should let others know how good this place is. First off, the drink selection and the menu are works of art. It is patterned after Hieronymus Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights, one of my favorite paintings. The drinks did not disappoint. We were fairly boring and ordered versions of our usuals, an Aperol spritz and a negroni. But they both had a little something extra that set them apart and above. The spinach arancini with feta cream, arugula, and truffles was delicious. We also enjoyed pan fried gnocchi with mushroom sauce and truffles (leave off the pickled enoki mushrooms though). And the highlight was the simplest dish, cacio e pepe - positively delicious. The server was very attentive and wanted to ensure that everything was right. Prices are reasonable. Just after sunset, look up above the byzantine church to see...
