I don't often write reviews, but for this particular hostel I made an exception. This is for January 2020. My stay here has been phenomenal. Rating: 10/10 My room: 8 dorm, mixed. Bottom bunk.
Reason: Pros: Location - Incredibly close to Syntagma, Acropolis, Plaka, Museum, okay so basically everything. There is a grocery store very close by, many restaurants, dessert places, and basically whatever you need. Everything is within walking distance.
Cleanliness - The cleaning ladies does a thorough clean every day, and this isn't like a 12-2pm only cleaning, nah they cleans the entire day away. I often see them cleaning the stairwells, kitchen and other rooms until they is off work. It is immaculate. The beds are clean, the dorms are clean, the bathrooms are clean - this is Japanese level of clean in this hostel.
Ventilation: In my experience, European Hostels don't like proper ventilation. Nah, here you got a big window you can open if you like without having to fight the person sleeping next to the window for some ventilation.
Staff: Friendliest staff ever. Super helpful, kind and will happily accommodate your requests. I love them.
Breakfast: Free! Simple (Bread, coffee, fruit, tea). It's free, can't complain. The bread is delicious. :)
Rooms: Large, spacious and does not feel cluttered. They are clean, bunk dorms have clean curtains, they have full luggage sized lockers with an electronic keycard lock so you don't need your own. Bunk have lamps, outlets, little shelf, hooks and PRIVACY CURTAINS, WOOOO. There is also a large mirror and windows.
Bathrooms: For a 8 dorm mixed room, there are 2 showers, 2 bathrooms and 1 sink with a large mirror. It is exceptionally clean!
Hotel: Rooftop view, and around the clock front desk. Super safe hotel. They give you a towel + free earplugs. Bodywash is provided, shampoo is not.
Conclusion: The location is exceptional, everything is within walking distance. The entire hotel is immaculately clean with a hardworking around the clock cleaning staff (lady) that you will see often cleaning. The rooms are large, with great ventilation, privacy and security of personal belongings. The bathrooms are clean. Free breakfast! Rooftop view!
Cons:
Social spots: Aside from the kitchen, there isn't really a place to socialize or meet people. There is no proper "lounge" area. Nobody went to the kitchen to socialize.
Location: It's a bit of a double edge sword but because you're basically in the epicenter of everything, the restaurants downstairs can get quite loud in the middle of the night (Quiets down around 3am). They give you free earplugs and when you shut the windows, you hear muffled noises. The windows do a decent job though. It's alright.
Conclusion: There are not many things you can find to nitpick to dislike the hotel about.
Neutrals:
This depends on you as a person, but this is not a party hostel. This is a clean, safe and modern hostel with limited social options (basically only the front desk and kitchen).
Final conclusion: I love this hostel. I often forget it isn't a 3 star hotel sometimes. It's my hostel of choice when I visit Athens again. The price for me was 56.66 Euros for 4 nights. Incredible. I would have paid 100 euros for 4 nights to stay at this Hostel, if not more! For my Euro trip I went to Paris, Madrid, Vienna, Rome and Athens. This is the most beautiful hostel (AND CLEAN!!) that I've ever been in, and for the price - the most worth it hostel at the price point of...
Read moreStayed at the hostel in a female dorm for six nights. Overall, I had a good experience. The hostel is very clean, modern and in a GREAT part of town. So close to everything. Bed pods are comfortable and give privacy. The en suite bathrooms in my rooms were huge too. Wifi overall was strong, even to support video calls, and the rooftop view was really fantastic. I was on the roof nightly just enjoying the view and the break from the craziness below.||A few things to note. The hostel is snuggled between a busy road and an alley with lively bars that are patronized and loud until 1am - 2am. There is A LOT of street noise, especially in the alley where music is thumping during opening hours. I know Athens is a busy hub but that noise was really distracting and after a long day sightseeing, there is no way to soundproof it. It’s just loud. ||The bed pods have a curtain you can lower too, but that also blocks all breeze coming in and air con, so just be aware of that too.||Hostel is not very communal or social. No activities are offered but there is a WhatsApp group for people to converse and plan their own items. There is a kitchen but no cooking is allowed, but you can store some breakfast foods.||Staff was overall very nice but not super helpful or knowledgeable about tourist stuff. Not a huge deal but depends what you’re looking for help on.||I also had an issue with my original dorm room and the staff helped me move quickly and with little hassle, which I was very appreciative. One word of caution, if you are looking to book a 4-bed female, know there are two rooms and two layouts.||Overall, I would likely stay again but that street noise is my...
Read moreI stayed at Mosaikon for 5 days. The hostel is not like your typical hostel, it has a feel and service of a hotel. I stayed in a 4 bed female dorm with a private bathroom and the beds were comfortable, you had room to sit up and read and curtains to maintain your privacy when sleeping. Housekeeping cleaned the romms everyday. They offer a laundry service if you need any clothes washed, which is helpful if travelling for long. ||On the first floor you have a kitchen where you a cooker, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and fridge. Perfect if you want to prepare your own meals. I chose to have breakfast and you your choice of hot beverage made for you, with boiled eggs, gronola and yoghurt, bread, ham sandwich, scrambled eggs, Greek pastry and croissants. There is also freshly squeezed orange juice available too.||The fifth floor is their roof top bar where you get to enjoy the view of the Acropolis lit up at night. The bar was not open whilst I was there, but can imagine it being a great place to meet other fellow travellers. ||The staff are all helpful and would like to say a big thank you to Kuriios. He always greets you with a smile and was so helpful in giving his recommendations on any trips from Athens and how best to get there. I ended up going up north to Kalambaka to see the Meteora Monasteries. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Athens to plan a trip to see them.||Mosaikon is in walking distance to all major sites and the area Monastiraki has plenty of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and shops to explore.||I have no doubt you will enjoy your stay here with the friendly service and...
