The one night I was in Athens I spent it trying the bars that were on the 50 Best Bars in the World list. Of the 3 bars in Athens on the list, THIS was the best of them all, and they aren’t even in the Top 50 in the past 2 years. They specialize in Latin drinks using mezcal and tequila. But, they’re mainly known for their Palomas. The female bartender I had (Elvia I think was her name) was very helpful and knowledgeable of the drinks. Approachable and EXCELLENT service. I had 2 plaomas (one made with tequila and the other with mezcal). I was amazed on the fact they were very meticulous on their ice (perfectly cubed ice picked up using tweezers and “branding” them with a stamp resembling a agave piña). I also had an old fashion that literally was a play on a PB&J sandwich using “peanut butter” and a strawberry fruit roll up garnish. I was very impressed. The bartender also poured me a shot that reminded me of a cranberry vodka, only very dry. I left only to come back an hour later because they CLEARLY won my tastings of the 3 bars. She poured me a “mystery drink” which I think was a margarita after I told her she can make me anything she wanted. Clearly the best bar in Athens. Was introduced to this place about 2 years ago , and has since turned into a regular hangout in Athens city center. The staff are super friendly, deeply knowledgeable, keen to receive feedback, and genuinely interested in and committees to bringing some authentic Mexican culture into Athens. We have sampled the tacos and guac, food wise, which were really really good! Not to mention the one-off special events like an Oysters & Margarita night, with the freshest oysters in town!! As for the drinks and cocktails, they are clean, honest, and as close to the Mexican recipes as you can get, so you don’t have to worry about a hangover the day after. Don’t think twice, go in and ask for a michelada and a tasting glass of a Don Julio 70, another high quality tequila from the great selection available, a Paloma, or another...

We arrived late evening on a Monday and were served by Ioanna. She was charming and friendly, keen to make sure we had a good time. It seemed to get off to a rough start after I asked her to mix me up a Mezcal cocktail - she seemed a bit flustered by my loose request - but she pulled through (and then some) with several excellent drinks including one with a head of stout foam. She even kindly replaced one pre-mix drink my wife did not like, and was keen to ensure her tidy-up activities were not disturbing us.

The whole time we were there it was quiet, just another couple at a different table. Amazing to have the whole place practically to ourselves given its high rating.
