Great view, live music, but food so tragic even Homer couldn’t make poetry of it.
What a sad little experience — and a timely reminder that views and live music cannot redeem culinary disappointment, no matter how seductive they are.
We wandered by on an evening stroll, drawn in by the sound of music drifting into the night. The wine was, as it so often is in Greece, excellent. The service was friendly, the atmosphere pleasant. And then came the food.
It began with bread and cheese — fine. Then an aubergine casserole, which might have been good had it been hot. Or warm. Or even slightly above refrigerator temperature. Who in their right mind serves a casserole cold? Anything “al forno” by definition demands to arrive sizzling, alive, and defiant. Otherwise what’s the point of a clay pot at all? I remain baffled. Was the dish cooked high atop the Acropolis and carried down by hand? Was it dispatched from Colchis by the Argonauts? Or perhaps Odysseus himself had to blind Polyphemus before dragging the pot from Sicily to Athens, where it cooled on the journey? In any case, mystery unsolved.
My main course consisted of two lonely tentacles of an octopus. I could only hope the poor creature is learning to get by on six. A note to the chef: grill follows cooking, not replaces it — otherwise one ends up gnawing on chewy rubber bands. My wife, meanwhile, was presented with a grilled sea bream so small it might not have reached adolescence. And yes, I rarely talk prices, but over twenty euros for a fish that could fit in a child’s aquarium is more insult than indulgence.
Lovely view, charming music, but in the end: a depressing little tragedy, and not of the...
Read moreWe ate at this restaurant as part of a group tour from our ship. I thought the food was poor at best starting with the undercooked pork kebabs and the un-drinkable house wines. The service was not much better. The restaurant was unable to accommodate one of our guests who does not eat meat. Her request had been given to the restaurant well in advance of our meal. At the restaurant, she asked if she could have some fish as a substitute for the chicken/pork but was told a fish option was not available even though fish is offered on their regular menu. The restaurant had no wine list, but was willing to sell a bottle for 65 euros - which was very pricey for the wine being offered. The day before we had had a very highly rated white wine (4.3 on Vivino) from another restaurant for about 30 euros. Finally, when the dessert came they provided a simple scoop of ice cream. When we asked for another flavor we were told they had vanilla, but it was too frozen to be served??? The restaurant generally gets good reviews. Maybe the best food and service is provided only to people who order from the regular menu. There was another group eating when we left and one queuing to be seated. I hope their meals...

PORTIONS ARE SO SMALL you think its a joke!
4 out of five dishes we ordered were not only old , inedible (not fresh- few days old ) but the portions were to laugh at.
Mousaka plate was not possible to eat - it was 4days old minimum, stale and disgusting looking
Zucchini balls probably fried in the morning and by the evening that we ordered them were again NON EDIBLE chewy disgusting looking potential salmonella feast
Pork meat portion was very expensive and the tiny portion of meat was hilarious, chewy and questionable quality was the fries we're prepared at least hours ago and swimming in oil!
We left there feeling violated and hungry as we could not eat most of the food.
This is the place each tourist should avoid first for their health & SAFETY. & Secondly to avoid the humiliation of being financially ripped off.
I can not remember ever going to such a bad...
