Our Greek friend recommended the rooftop bar to us for the view and it sure lived up. You can see the Acropolis from the bar which was fabulous - highly recommend going there for the view around the time of sunset so you can see the view by day and night. We had the white sauce truffle oil pizza which was delicious. Also recommend the apple cider and Mythos beer. We were greeted well and given a really good seat upon request.
The only part that we objected with was the service by one particular server - the one with the coloured blue hair (no name tag) He was rude and apparently only willing to offer courtesy to white customers. The difference in treatment was frustrating and saddening. Not only did he practically Throw the napkins and cutlery on the table but also didn’t bother to give us water. There were other people sitting on either side of us (who were NOT people of colour) whom he proceeded to provide noticeable good service to. Checking in on them, refilling water, asking them how they liked the food etc.
There was another Indian couple on another table nearby and we noticed that he was serving every other table except theirs and ours. Whilst it may not have been aggressive racism, it is certainly a micro aggression and covert racism that we experienced.
For anyone who is a person of colour visiting this bar, it is imperative to be aware of this server beforehand and maybe adjust expectations accordingly . It was very frustrating to be treated like this in todays day and age in a global city like Athens.
Would also like to specially mention The server who served us water and checked in on us regularly - extremely considerate and friendly. (There were no name tags) Overall- would recommend this bar for the view, Food and drinks but not...
Read moreThe review is only for the restaurant on the top floor (no opinion for the hotel). We visited for first time for brunch we went on the top floor, the restaurant was almost empty with few people only in 3 tables... empty... we were 2 people and a little kid. We selected to sit on the first table on the front, they are very tiny tables so we kindly requested to the person in charge to slightly move the nearby table (they are next to each other with no more than 10cm distance!) because each table sits one or with struggle 2 person. The lady in charge refused and she said this is the policy of the restaurant not to put together 2 of this tiny tables (LoL!!!). We were stunned to hear such an excuse and we kindly requested to speak to "the manager" so we can receive a more real response as the lady in charge seems she was a very very inexperienced employee. The "manager" arrived and he was confrontational and aggressive and when I asked him (he said his name was Stergios - we are not sure this is his real name) to explain why they are unable to move 10cm the table next to our table (so the can accommodate 2 adults and a little kid) he said the following "award winning" excuse: "We can't move the tables next to each other because there are 3 people sitting two rows behind and when they came we promised them that we will not put two of the tables (the tiny tables!!) next to each other (LoL!!). And just imagine an empty floor with 5 or 6 overall customers on the entire floor!!!
Bottom line, its a waste of time to visit this place, its a shame places like this to even exist, I feel sorry for the people who have invested, to have a restaurant with no sense of customer service, run by amateurs and...
Read more“I love everything about Athens—its people, location, and beauty—except for this hotel.||I booked a 4-night stay expecting a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, for two days, there was no heat in the room. Despite several complaints, no one bothered to offer a space heater. Finally, on the third day, the so-called General Manager, Katrina, provided a heater.||I contacted Trip.com, and they informed me that the hotel had agreed to offer me late checkout and complimentary breakfast for two days as compensation. However, the front desk staff, particularly one woman, pretended not to understand English whenever it suited her. I explained that I was okay with using the breakfast for one day since she told me about it late (no surprise), and I would use the second breakfast the next day.||When I went for breakfast the following day, the GM, Katrina, showed up with a vengeance and insisted I pay for it. I was utterly disgusted and humiliated in front of both staff and other guests. Rather than argue, I paid for the breakfast, but the entire experience was demeaning and unacceptable.||I will be reaching out to Greece Tourism to file a formal complaint about my stay. Katrina is clearly incompetent in her role, and her attitude was completely opposite to the warm and hospitable nature I experienced from the wonderful people of Athens.||I do not recommend this hotel, especially for American travelers. There are plenty of other options in the city.||The only positive aspect of my stay was the housekeeping staff. The housekeeping lady was extremely professional, hospitable, and did an excellent job cleaning the room. Her efforts were the only highlight of this otherwise disappointing...
