Step into the heart of Athens and immerse yourself in the authentic flavors of Italy at Piadina Lumbro, a pizzeria that aims to showcase the true essence of 100% original Italian food.
Since its inception in January 2018, Michele Dominici, driven by a passion for authenticity, envisioned a place that would exemplify Italian culinary traditions in the vibrant Greek capital.
Teaming up with Marco Zenaboni, the esteemed "pizza maestro," Piadina Lumbro has become a haven for those seeking the genuine taste of Napoli pizza. Zenaboni, the sole practitioner of this craft in Athens, has unlocked the secret to creating the perfect Italian pizza—the dough. The result is a pizza that transports your taste buds to the bustling pizzerias of Naples, where tradition and technique intertwine.
To maintain the utmost authenticity, Piadina Lumbro sources all its ingredients directly from trusted Italian suppliers. This commitment to quality ensures that every bite takes you on a culinary journey through Italy, one mouthwatering flavor at a time. As you step inside, you'll be greeted by the Neo-style Italian tavern ambiance—a delightful blend of modern and vintage aesthetics that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience.
During our visit, we had the pleasure of indulging in a selection of pizzas that left an indelible mark on our palates. One standout was the "LA NDUJA," a co-star dish that combined the richness of mozzarella and gorgonzola with the tantalizing heat of nduja sauce—a spicy paste made from pork and chili. Each bite, complemented by the freshness of cherry tomatoes and fragrant basil, was a revelation.
Another star of the night was the "SALSICCIA FRIARIELLI," a pizza that captivated our senses with its medley of flavors. The combination of mozzarella, provola cheese, salsiccia sausage, and rapini created a harmony of tastes that danced on our tongues.
The "CARCIOFA" pizza boasted a symphony of ingredients, including fresh mushrooms, prosciutto cotto, artichokes, and black olives. This delightful combination, complemented by their unique tomato sauce, showcased Piadina Lumbro's dedication to delivering an extraordinary culinary experience.
While the "CAPRICCIOSA" pizza lacked a touch of saltiness, its medley of tomato sauce, mozzarella, fresh mushrooms, bacon, prosciutto cotto, and green pepper still delighted our taste buds.
To accompany our pizzas, we indulged in a selection of Spritz cocktails, each crafted to perfection and offering a refreshing and complementary accompaniment to our flavorful feast.
Though the service was slightly slow due to a full house and limited staffing, our one dedicated waitress impressed us with her sweetness and helpfulness. Despite the challenges, she made every effort to ensure our dining experience was enjoyable.
In conclusion, Piadina Lumbro is a true haven for pizza enthusiasts and lovers of Italian cuisine in the heart of Athens. With their extreme-tasting pizzas, unique ingredients, and star-worthy tomato sauce, this pizzeria delivers a culinary journey that transports you to the vibrant streets of Italy. Allow yourself to be captivated by the flavors and warmth that emanate from this charming establishment—a destination where authenticity and passion for food shine through...
Read moreLet's start by saying that I'm italian. Now, the pizza is not super authentic so I would have expected a bit more. I think that a Marinara (no cheese just tomato sauce) 8 euros is a lot. Like... in Italy in Milan you get a Pizza with spicy pork, and some veggies for that price and taxes in Italy are just 2% lower than Greece. In Italy vate rate: 22% in Greece: 24% so hopefully you get that it's unjustified the cost of this Marinara which is a basic less than 2 euros to make it. Anyways, I will give 4 stars due to the fact that it wasn't bad, it was fresh and good and I liked it. The dough was very light and didn't make me feel heavy so it's a good pizza (absolutely not the best in Athens).
PS. I'm a serial reviewer so please leave a like if I helped you out choosing or not this...
Read moreIt used to be a really nice italian place, but the new price policy doesn't satisfy us anymore! The prices are very much increased. The piadinas from 5/6 euros went to 8/9 euros, and the pizzas from 7/10 euros went up to 13/14 euros. The bottle of Prosecco went from 20 to 25 euros. You are supposed to bring Napoli to Athens, but now the prices are much more greek. Also, you are called Piadina Lumbro, but now you serve piadina only during the week (not weekends) and only until 19:00? Why, really?? Bring back the previous policy. It was much better. So, from now on, it's a no destination. It used to be a unique place,...
