Lovely place for Japanese food in Athens. I saw it recommended on a few ‘best places / restaurants to eat in Athens’ and knew I had to try.
It’s quite hard to get a reservation, especially at peak / sunset time, so I recommend you booking in advance!
The venue itself offers you stunning views of the acropolis which is all lit up at night.
The staff were friendly, our waiter was nice but kept pushing more expensive dishes and was obvious for these ‘recommendations’ - we knew what we wanted, not afraid to spend but were happy with our choice.
We had spicy edamame (which was soooo salty (we genuinely had to stop eating it) but thanks to another waiter and chef, the brought out another and recovered the experience. The beef tataki soba salad was delicious, the flavour and different textures of ingredients in the dish was 🤌🏽. Sea bass and peas dumplings also very nice. We then had ebi tuna sushi rolls and creamy sea bass nigiri which was very good. We like our sushi and the food was of very good standard and quality. We wanted to try the mains (although no black cod 😢) but sadly we’re too full!
Cocktail menu is quite selective but they can also make you any classic cocktail.
Vibes were good, specially for a summer evening on a rooftop with a dj playing. Only thing is. There was one table me 2 around the outside part of the terrace, they were all larger tables 4+ (to have best views) the rest of the table of 2s were more inside so you had other tables restricting the views.
Would recommend and would go back, Nyx is a good choice specially if you want a good Japanese / different option to Greek or Mediterranean...
Read moreWe made an anniversary reservation and requested a table with a view a week prior. We ran late and notified the staff. They said it was okay for up to 15 minutes or so. We ran a half hour late. Upon arrival, we were told that our table was forfeited. I get that we were late however the hostess was very rude and explained that the table needs to be reserved for 2 hours (or more I can’t remember exactly but it was a ridiculously long time) in order to service us appropriately and prepare the dishes. We ended up sitting outside in the cold. The entire meal including appetizers and entrees was finished within an hour or so. The food was served very quickly and there was absolutely no need for such a long reservation. I think we could have been accommodated and instead we were met with rude behavior and service. The server tried his best to help us choose dishes to our liking but clearly did not know enough about the food. We clearly asked for sushi that had lots of sauce and flavor and he recommended something that was completely dry. The server assistant who cleaned up the plates after each course was prompt but too prompt and removed dishes when I was still enjoying. The food was tasty, but we left hungry because the portion sizes were so small. Overall, it was expensive and not very worth it. There is also a view of the Acropolis, but it’s quite a distance away. The hostess really tainted our...
Read moreI wouldn’t really recommend it. The service was good, nice welcome by hostesses and waitstaff was lovely. The food is very mediocre and overdressed to appear as more than it is. Raw fish is incredible and should be enhanced, not covered up. The sashimi salad was covered in a very acidic dressing that closeted the salmon taste, and the salmon was seared which took away from the lovely raw texture. The creamy sea bass was good but would have been so much better if not covered in mayonnaise! The tuna tartar Bao buns were not in Bao buns - they were in black sesame buns. Very very different things, no idea why menu says Bao. Tuna sashimi was nice but 3 pieces for that price is a bit ridiculous. Overall, I would just say far too much mayonnaise on everything and not enough care into actually enhancing the already present flavours They view is nice - but plenty of Athens restaurants have an Acropolis view. The price was absolutely extortionate. Made no sense, no justified by the quality at all. It wasn’t like they used pure wasabi or did anything special. Maybe it’s just that there arent very many sushi restaurants in Athens so they can jack up the price, but I’ve had omakase in London for a similar price and was far more deserving. I just wish more care was put into appreciating Japanese flavour profile and enhancing tastes and textures rather than...
